Ashton Kutcher was surprised to learn Jessica Simpson was a 22-year-old virgin.
The "With You" singer, 45, reflected on her career in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6C4v8ATlMw) and recalled a conversation with Kutcher, 47, whom she starred alongside as Annette on a few episodes of season 5 of That '70s Show, about her virgin status as a young adult.
"I'll never forget telling Ashton I was a virgin," Simpson told the outlet. "He was like, 'Why?'"
She continued, "I was like, 'Because I haven't met my husband yet.' I mean, I had met my husband [Nick Lachey] at that time, but I was a virgin. Guys like that."
The businesswoman — whose new Mystic Canyon perfume (https://people.com/jessica-simpson-new-fragrance-mystic-canyon-empowering-exclusive-11832708) is out now — then spoke further about how being a virgin at the time became a large part of her public narrative: "At this age, I'm very, very innocent. I'm not thinking about other people and their sex lives at all."
Simpson added, "It was just something that I talked about, I think in an interview maybe. I'm sure they asked me, like, what type of guy I liked or something."
"They had to have asked me something about sex," she explained. "It wouldn't be like, 'Hi, my name's Jessica Simpson. I'm a virgin.'"
Looking back, Simpson thinks her record label was "probably shocked" for her to divulge such personal information. "But I've always been open," she said. "Legs crossed — but open."
Elsewhere in the interview, the musician revealed she filmed a music video for her debut single "I Wanna Love You Forever" starring Kutcher that was ultimately scrapped.
