So when I say "The 1970s" images probably automatically come to mind...bell bottoms, disco balls, afro hair, same for the 80s: big teased hair, unique music, same for the 90s..... but after 2000, decade styles and eras seemed to STOP. I can't really think of anything associated with the 2000s, the 2010s, or NOW. I was watching a TV show from 1997 where a character was poking fun at a guy's style saying, "That is SO 1984!" Which would be a 13 year difference, today that would be like saying, "Your style is so 2012!" and that joke wouldn't even LAND today as there's not really any difference between now and 2012.
It seems like everything from 2000 to now just kinda blurs together

I know what you mean. I guess the 2000s could be known for a rise in social media and cell phone use. But I can't pick out fashion differences much from the last 25 years. But I wonder if this has to do with perspective? Maybe people in 2050 will have concrete ideas about what the 2010s were about? Or not.

Like what would we even CALL the decade from 2000-2009? or from 2010-2019? I've heard some ppl suggest "the Naughties" for 2000-2009, I kinda like that lol
And yes, I remember 1999 and 2000 being the cellphone explosion years

I don't see much nostalgia for anything for the 2000's or 2010's.
I won't doubt that the next nostalgia craze will be everything 20th century from 1900's to 1990's.
