Courtney sat cross-leged on the couch, staring blankly across the room at the phone. Why was this bothering her so much? She apparently would have a date with a guy that every girl went nuts over sometime in the near future. That sort of thing never bothered her before. So why did it now?
Shaking her head, Courtney re-accounted her motives. "It's a test." she reminded herself. "It's a test to see if he's as great as everyone says he is." despite the reasuurance, she couldn't help but think that it was really a simple test of her own stubornness, and she was failing.
Courtney was sure that if she had heat vision the phone would've exploded by now. Somehow, staring at it made her feel better. It was sort of like daring the phone to ring. Then, as though accepting that dare, the phone rang.
Without explanation, Courtney lept to her feet and raced across the room, barking an impatiant "Hello?" into the phone.
"Hey." the somewhat fimmilar voice came over the phone. "Courtney, right?"
Courtney grinned. Fonzie wasn't as good as he thought he was. Messing with his mind should prove most entertaining. "Maybie."
Courtney could almost hear Fonzie's grin. "You're ither Courtney or your not." he stated. "Which way is it?"
Despite the direct question, Courtney couldn't resisit keeping up her indirect act. "Ither." she said simplly.
Fonzie's responce was a simple blank "Hua?"
Courtney fought back her laughter. "If I were one of Courtney's roommates, what would you say to me?"
The question was just bizzare enough to snap Fonzie back into reality. He responded quickly. "I'd say that I want to talk to Courtney." Despite wording it like a statement, it came across as a question.
"And..." Courtney began another question. "If I were Courtney?"
Fonzie seemed to be catching on. "I'd tell you we have a reseveration at the Sweatish meatball for 8:00PM tonight."
"Tell?" Courtney echoed.
"Ask." he cleared up. "if she's avaliable at 8:00 tonight."
"Alright." she said. "Ither way, I can assure you she's avaliable." Courtney said, loving every minute of this. "And, if I'm Courtney's roommate, I'll pass along the message."
"Good." Fonzie said. It sounded like a finilization. Then he said "By the way, if your one of Courtney's roommates, I have to say that you'll make a great phycitrest one day."
Courtney grinned. "Thank you." she stated. "And if I'm Courtney?"
Fonzie took a deep breath. "Then I'm in for a verry intresting date."
Courtney couldn't hold back her laughter anymore. She could only pause it long enough to say "Congradulations, Fonzie. You just won a verry intresting date." As entertaining as it would've been to hear his responce, Courtney hung up on him.
The moment the phone was down, Courtney dropped to her knees in peals of laughter.
