The Most Valuable Player Award (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_League_Baseball_Most_Valuable_Player_Award) is Major League Baseball's most historic individual award, and what makes the hunt for the award so good is the races leading up to it. It could go to anyone early on, but down the stretch in August and September, that's when you really hope to see some players going back and forth, making their case to be MVP. In the 2020s, the MVP award race hasn't been very close, at least when it comes to the ballot results. There have been several unanimous winners in recent years, with all 4 MVPs from 2023 and 2024 being among those. So, how about we take a trip back to remind ourselves of some of the closest MVP results (https://www.baseball-reference.com/awards/mvp.shtml) in MLB history (https://www.mlb.com/awards/most-valuable-player), and maybe it'll help to explain why we haven't witnessed many exciting results in recent years.
