Do you remember when the country band Exile was big in the 70's? They had a top hit with the song Kiss You All Over which became their well-known hit and the song was later covered by teen pop band No Mercy in 1997. My mother got to see Exile when they were the opening act for Kenny Rogers and I wondered if they had other hits or were they a one-hit wonder in country music?

^^^ They scored ten #1 songs in the 80s. Go here (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exile_(American_band)_discography#Singles) for their radio history.

God bless you and the act always!!!

Holly

P.S. My most favorite song from them is "I Can't Get Close Enough" which was their last #1 song.

Country music bands like Exile or Alabama had alot of hit songs that also got carried over to Top 40 Pop music chart. So they were very popular in both Country and Pop music scenes.

Here's a bit of trivia about Exile that I'm sure most people wouldn't know. In the early 80s before Exile switched from their rock/pop style to country, they were the original artist to record Heart And Soul, which would become a big hit for Huey Lewis and The News a few years later. That's right, Huey Lewis and The News' version of Heart And Soul is a remake! I only learned this a couple years ago myself, musically Exile's original version doesn't sound that much different from the Huey Lewis and The News remake but I like it. But obviously Exile's original wasn't nearly as successful as Huey Lewis and The News' version was.

^^^ Was the Exile copy of "Heart And Soul" actually released at all to radio or was it just included on one of their albums?

God bless you and both bands always!!!

Thanks for that info. Didn't know the song Heart and Soul was a remake from Exiles. I kind of like the Exile version as it got more "rawness" to it than Huey Lewis version. I am thinking one of the main reason Huey Lewis version was more successful might be that video of that song got very popular on MTV. While Exiles song version pre-date MTV phenomena.

According to Wikipedia, Heart and Soul was the title track song to Exile album "Heart and Soul" and was released as a single. The single failed to crack the Billboard Hot 100 music chart.

What is the U.S. Bubbling list? According to this page here (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exile_(American_band)_discography#Singles), the song went to #2 on that list. :) :) :)

God bless you always!!!

Bubbling under the Hot 100. So it peaked at 102 I guess.

I have never heard of that list from Billboard magazine. It seem it ranks the songs that are close to entering Billboard’s main singles Top 100 chart. In case of Exiles, that song did not enter :)
