View Full Version : As Wholesome as It Was, 'The Brady Bunch' Had To Ban This Incredibly Disturbing Scene TMC 10-10-2025, 08:47 PM https://collider.com/the-brady-bunch-banned-scene-skinny-dipping/ It's definitely much more than a hunch. BestTVever 10-11-2025, 05:21 AM You can still see the scene on MeTv. I think its overblown. The scene was used just to show how Alice was a parental force in the house with the kids. Dude111 10-11-2025, 06:56 AM I didnt ever see that episode!! Whats the big deal with Nudity?? Ah man!! BestTVever 10-16-2025, 04:01 PM I didnt ever see that episode!! Whats the big deal with Nudity?? Ah man!! Here is the scene. Grown adults invite their children's friends to swim nude in their pool. That would be illegal. Put this scene in context. Its reminding the viewer, the kids, and the parents what good Alice is to the family. She even protects the children from the child molesters that moved in next door. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pa2BxE0Xq3Y Dude111 10-16-2025, 05:01 PM Well I could make this thread blow sky high but I wont........ Nothing wrong with swimming naked in a pool.....I had my friiends over one time and we all swam nude....... I dont wanna say anymore,I dont want this thread blowing sky high!!!!! (Todd doesnt either believe me) stevea 10-16-2025, 05:49 PM Here is the scene. Grown adults invite their children's friends to swim nude in their pool. That would be illegal. It's not a banned scene. I'm not sure why the writers decided to include it, though. If I recall correctly it doesn't really have anything to do with the rest of the episode, right? Dude111 10-16-2025, 10:02 PM I wouldnt think so....... Wasnt that not part of the show?? (Going swimming??) stevea 10-16-2025, 10:33 PM I really don't know what episode this was in, but i don't recall a full episode having to do with going to a pool. OK, I went into the clickbait junk site -- ir's "Goodbye, Alice, Hello" from season 4. I do remember the episode--the kids think Alice is squealing on them in varying situations, causing Alice to eventually leave the Bradys because the kids start giving her the cold shoulder. This pool thing may be the Bobby/Cindy situation--Alice probably told the Mike and Carol about it. i don't remember a scene where one of the parents talked to the kids about it--in real life the parents would probably have dealt with the adults involved in the whole situation. Like the present time, adults even then just don't invite little kids over to go skinny dipping. BestTVever 10-17-2025, 05:02 AM I knew what the original post was about without checking the link. You are right in the sense that the scene is not "banned." However it got cut in syndication and is extremely rare. MeTv still shows it. In context the scene demonstrates Alice's protection of the kids and steps in as a parent when they are not around. This episode had lots of mini scenes like this. In the 1970s skinny dipping was the rage. Not sure if it was a post hippy thing or not. Streaking was popular too. I would sometimes hear people in the 1970s talk about skinny dipping in their pool at night. Its sort of a time stamp on the episode. When the writers wrote it they could not see the danger of such thing. Bobby and Cindy were minor children. Dude111 10-17-2025, 08:38 AM OK, I went into the clickbait junk site -- ir's "Goodbye, Alice, Hello" from season 4.Thank you Stevie,I have seen that 1 but I dont remember the pool scene.... Yes it must have been done away with.. stevea 10-17-2025, 09:44 AM It wasn't at a pool--Alice was talking to the kids inside the Brady house. They were talking about the pool at a neighbor's house. stevea 10-17-2025, 09:47 AM You are right in the sense that the scene is not "banned." However it got cut in syndication and is extremely rare. Good points about streaking, etc. around that time--I kinda remember that now that you mention it. opus 10-17-2025, 01:59 PM Photos borrowed from when you guys talked about this 3 years ago. https://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=413527&highlight=Nude It was obviously shown on ME 326793 326794 Dude111 10-17-2025, 11:21 PM Thank you Opus :) Rich3 10-20-2025, 09:53 PM A sad Hollywood moment. FredScuttle 10-25-2025, 05:17 AM I'm surprised the "click bait" article didn't title it "This was the scene that took Brady Bunch off the air" Dude111 10-25-2025, 01:17 PM I think its stupid to make such a big deal about Nudity..... Nothing nicer than natural stuff.... stevea 10-25-2025, 02:13 PM Just to clarify, there was no nudity on the Brady Bunch. And the discussion scene was never banned, although it was edited out on one or more stations (not including MeTV). More than likely, any TV station(s) that cut it out viewed as unnecessary to the episode and removed it for time purposes. Dude111 10-25-2025, 04:51 PM Ya I would like to believe that Stevie!! Thank you buddy :) BestTVever 10-26-2025, 03:53 PM Just to clarify, there was no nudity on the Brady Bunch. And the discussion scene was never banned, although it was edited out on one or more stations (not including MeTV). More than likely, any TV station(s) that cut it out viewed as unnecessary to the episode and removed it for time purposes. Exactly. I remember seeing the scene in syndication in the late 1970s. It got chopped up and removed just like the countless other scenes when networks got greedy playing more and more commercials. Nudity was not the issue. It was the fact of children swimming nude in the neighbors swimming pool who would be there and be nude too. Those parents would be arrested today even though they may not have had a sexual interest in the children. Its really a time stamp because in the groovy early 70s it was not that taboo. 80s Dude 06-01-2026, 09:49 PM Perhaps this is based on the allegation (according to Maureen) that Eve like to hang out nude in the locker room. CosmicCharlie 06-06-2026, 06:54 PM Somehow Holly Weird thinks since the 1920's that pre puberty nudity is ok How did they ever think the movie "Pretty Baby" with Brook Shields playing a semi nude preteen prostitute was ok ? Dude111 06-06-2026, 09:35 PM Maybe because it wasnt sexual.. NUDE photos are not porn (No matter what they are of) People need to get over that... |
