View Full Version : Disney Rocks! Chip N Dale & DuckTales Coming to DVD!
Felix Na Vi Da 08-11-2005, 08:17 PM I'm so excited Disney is releasing both DuckTales & Chip N Dale. I think it will probably be in volumes like Batman & ThunderCats but that's just a guess. This year is turning out to be great.
The news comes from Ultimate Disney.
Now this is exciting news! Disney has just announced that they will release 3-disc box sets of late '80s/early '90s animated television series "DuckTales" and "Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers" on November 8th! The few details available now have just been posted in a DVD Fact Sheet. The sets (which will each carry a $34.99 SRP) will mark only the second time a Disney TV cartoon has come to DVD in multi-disc format. We'll have more on these as soon as it comes in.
ClassicTV4Ever 08-11-2005, 10:01 PM That is so awesome! I can't wait!
musicradio77 08-11-2005, 10:07 PM I'm looknig forward to get it. Iused to watched it since I was a youngster. I have one VHS tape of "DuckTales" in my collection. Great show.
L&OFan4Eva 08-11-2005, 10:14 PM Yeah! I hope Darkwing Duck and Talespin are next.
ClassicTVGal 08-11-2005, 10:21 PM Oh! soooo cool! This is great news! Loved them when I was younger too! And yes, I hope Darkwing Duck and TaleSpin are next too!! :)
PZelda 08-11-2005, 10:26 PM OMG AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE DUCKTALES! I will SO buy it. That and Chip 'n' Dale!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
barwars 08-11-2005, 11:33 PM I'll be getting both. Probably ask for them for Christmas. 17 years old. Lame.
vashti1999 08-11-2005, 11:39 PM I'll be getting both. Probably ask for them for Christmas. 17 years old. Lame.
 That's funny and yet, I can relate.
PZelda 08-11-2005, 11:41 PM I'll be getting both. Probably ask for them for Christmas. 17 years old. Lame.
I watched DuckTales & Chip 'n' Dale when they were both in their first runs, and I turn 20 in four more days. So I must be even more lame than you.
I have a Scrooge McDuck plush toy I got in 1988 (still have it) and for my 4th birthday in 1989, I had DuckTales plates, cups and napkins. When my family went to Disney World in January 1990, I got a Dale stuffed animal. He came with a trench coat and hat, but I've since long lost them. I still have Dale, though.
I'll pick up episodes from the first season of Ducktales. But not the later episodes with Gizmo Duck and Bubba the cave duck.
As far as Chip n Dale goes, I am not sure if I will pick that up. Wasn't one of my favorite late 80's early 90's Disney shows. I liked Chip n Dale better in the old cartoons, when they were troublemakers for Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, instead of crimefighters.
And I am 23 years old. I was 5 years old when Ducktales premered, and 7 years old when Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers premered. So these shows are from my youth. No shame in buying kids shows from your youth. It is part of your history.
Pavan 08-12-2005, 12:55 AM Yeah, I heard about DuckTales being in the works. I posted it on HTF a few days back. Didn't think Buena Vista would release it that fast, though. I was guessing December at earliest, but I'll take Nov. 8! I love both shows!

I must be the lamest of all of you (25) lol. And I hope Darkwing Duck and TaleSpin are next too.
I plan on getting all of my favorite cartoons. Right now I have Jem and Danger Mouse, and I plan on getting the two mentioned in this thread, along with Heathcliff & The Cadillac Cats, He-Man, and Thundercats :D I feel a little awkward sometimes that I'm this old and still watch my favorite cartoons, but I can't help it. They make me feel like a kid all over again :)
U.M. Fanatic 08-12-2005, 08:14 AM Disney, :yourock:
I cant wait to see Ducktales out on dvd. November 8th cant get here fast enough!
barwars 08-12-2005, 10:23 AM I'm hoping for Darkwing Duck and Talespin next too, but I'd be happy with Bonkers, Goof Troop, and/or Doug.
Pavan 08-12-2005, 10:32 AM Yeah, TaleSpin and Darkwing Duck would be ideal. I loved this Disney Afternoon block the most:
3:00pm DuckTales
3:30pm Chip 'n Dale
4:00pm TaleSpin
4:30pm Darkwing Duck
I never liked anything else they put in, like Gargoyles, Bonkers, Goof Troop. Quack Pack was OK, but I never really watched it. The best four I mentioned were timeless and ageless. No matter what age you are, you'd be glued.
spunkygirl 08-12-2005, 11:10 AM This is awesome news, I grew up with both cartoons :woohoo: I just hope Disney doesn't do a sloppy job on these considering the release date is less than 3 months away now :)

I thought you were 30.... wouldn't that be a little old to "grow up" with these shows?
spunkygirl 08-12-2005, 11:41 AM I am but they're 80's cartoons, so I consider that growing up with them ;)
PZelda 08-12-2005, 01:16 PM I'm hoping for Darkwing Duck and Talespin next too, but I'd be happy with Bonkers, Goof Troop, and/or Doug.
Doug wasn't put out by Disney... It was Jumbo Productions I believe.

She was 12 going on 13 when DuckTales debuted in '87. So she did indeed grow up with both cartoons.

Disney had their own version, originally called "Brand Spanking New" Doug and then later simply "Disney's Doug".... but it was still the same idea. When the show jumped from Nickelodeon to ABC's 1 Saturday Morning, it was one of the few times a cartoon series ever went through a change and acknowledged it. Characters moving to a new school, get older, getting haircuts, and changing their outfits for once!

I guess. I think Spongebob debuted when I was 12, but I wouldn't consider it a cartoon I grew up with.
TVQuack 08-12-2005, 01:30 PM This show was right in my youth, I can't wait for it to come out.
Christopher 08-12-2005, 01:43 PM Yeah, TaleSpin and Darkwing Duck would be ideal. I loved this Disney Afternoon block the most:

I don't ever remember watching that block. The one I watched had Gummi Bears in it and at the end of each episode of the show they aired, had previews for the next episode.
I can't wait for Chip N Dale. I love that cartoon. DuckTales is alright, but I wont get that right away. I hope Gummi Bears gets released. That was my second favorite Disney cartoon back then.

Oh yeah...I briefly watched "Brand Spankin' New" when it was on. I was in 6th grade the year it debuted. I forgot about that version being owned by Disney. It would've helped to clarify which version you were talking about.
Pavan 08-12-2005, 02:20 PM I don't ever remember watching that block. The one I watched had Gummi Bears in it and at the end of each episode of the show they aired, had previews for the next episode.

I don't think Gummi Bears was ever part of the Disney Afternoon Block. I remember it airing out of that block at 2:30pm, though.
barwars 08-12-2005, 05:11 PM What channel did these air on? It couldn't possibly be Disney, because I remember watching them my entire life, and I didn't get cable until 3rd Grade.
L&OFan4Eva 08-12-2005, 05:25 PM Barwars, I think it was syndicated, but locally it was on first on my Fox station and then it moved to the CBS station, but because of the daytime stuff one hour was on in the morning and the other hour in the afternoon before the news.
Pavan 08-12-2005, 05:39 PM Yes, it was a syndicated afternoon block. It aired here in NY/NJ on WPIX.

I'm not sure what station I got them on back then -- it was probably Fox -- but the last two people are correct, they were syndicated. My family got cable in the 80's, but we didn't start paying for Disney til '94, the year I started 4th grade.
Johnny S 08-20-2005, 11:21 PM No... I didn't grow up with these shows. I am too young, but have seen them in syndication and love them! Anything disney puts out as far as cartoons are concerned I will buy. Especially Darkwing Duck!!! Some cartoons I grew up with are Rugrats, Hey Arnold, Doug and Ahh! Real Monsters. I would love to have all 4.(even though they aren't Disney) Yes I am a youngster compared to most of you.
Scoobiedoo30 08-26-2005, 05:00 PM I remember watching
3:00 pm DuckTales
3:30 pm Chip N Dale at 3:30 pm
4:00 pmTaleSpin
4:30 pm Darkwing Duck

 Yeah, you are. All of those shows were already on when I was in grade school/junior high. You said in another post you were 13, right? When's your b-day? Because if you were born in '92, I was in 2nd grade then.

I was born in '91.
PZelda 08-26-2005, 07:26 PM I was born in '91.
Gotcha. :) I figured you haven't had your b-day yet, but I wasn't sure.
Pavan 10-22-2005, 05:53 PM I figured it all out (I think) for what episodes and how DuckTales will be released. It was hard to figure out but I did it!
