There's no denying that Prime Video's Bosch is one of the best police procedural dramas of the past decade. The show follows the titular LAPD detective, Harry Bosch, and is based on the Michael Connelly crime novels featuring the same detective. Titus Welliver gave a career-defining performance as Harry Bosch, alongside an incredibly talented cast that included The Wire's Jamie Hector and Lance Reddick, as well as Mimi Rogers, Amy Aquino, and more. Bosch is a gritty and dark procedural with season-long cases and interconnecting storylines, with incredible character development and some shocking twists along the way. And Season 1 set the bar from the start with one of the best cases of the entire show, redefining the police procedural genre.
Bosch Season 1 saw Harry working on two main cases: the murder of Arthur Delacroix and the arrest of a serial killer, Raynard Waits, after an unexpected traffic stop. These two cases eventually seem to be connected after Waits confesses to killing Arthur, but Harry has his doubts. Against his will and best judgment, Harry gets involved in Raynard Waits' case, which not only adds an extra layer of tension to the series but also helps establish Harry's character through his actions during the case. Bosch Season 1 perfectly introduced and set the tone for the rest of the series, and Raynard Waits' case in particular helped the show not only stand out from other police procedural dramas but also set a new bar for the entire genre.
