No offense to the person I'm considering this trade with. Just wanted some feedback and it's just something I'm a little curious about to see how others work it out.
I have this trade proposition for say 40 thirty minute episodes and in return I have to give this person 40 hour episodes of a series. Would you think that is fair? If not, how would you work it out?

Depends on how nice you want to be:D :D
Alot of people have THEIR trading rules. The standard practice is whoever approaches the other should send first. Also if you want the shows you may have to give extra episodes/tapes to get what you need. Most everyone likes to trade even for even.
Sounds like you are getting around 4 tapes ep/slp mode, and you will be sending 7 tapes ep/slp mode.Of course this figure could be off depending on if the shows have commercials or not.You could even it up by having that person send you 3 blanks with your shows,or you may have to send the extra tapes to get the shows you want.
If it was me,and that was the only way I could get those 40 half hour episodes I would still do it.I buy 12 tape packs at sams club for around 10$,so in all reality besides the extra time to copy I would only be losing less then 3$.
Just my thoughts,I hope you can work it out so both sides are happy:D :D

Me personally, I don't think it's a fair trade. I think if you send out 40 hour long episodes. He/she should send out the same amount. Most traders trade hour for hour. AGAIN, this is just my opinion.
