During the Sunday memorial, Erika Kirk told the audience that she forgives Tyler Robinson, the man accused of shooting and killing her husband at a Utah Valley University event earlier this month.
“On the cross, our savior said, ‘Father, forgive them. For they not know what they do.’ That man. That young man. I forgive him,” she said.
Allen took to X on Thursday, saying the 36-year-old widow’s words deeply moved him.
“I have struggled for over 60 years to forgive the man who killed my Dad. I will say those words now as I type:
‘I forgive the man who killed my father,'”
Allen wrote on social media.
The “Home Improvement” and “Toy Story” star was just 11 years old when his father, real estate agent Gerald Dick, was killed in a car accident involving a drunk driver in 1964.
“Peace be with you all,” Allen, now 72, concluded in the post.
