Full House stars Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber recalled how "impossible" it was to work when comedians Bob Saget and Dave Coulier were in a scene together.
The actresses exchanged sitcom set stories with My So-Called Life star Devon Odessa on a recent episode of the How Rude, Tanneritos! podcast. Sweetin said that some scenes were "going off the rails" because her onscreen father and uncle would goof around.
"They would feed off each other," Barber agreed. "They were trying to, like, out-laugh each other or out-joke each other."
Sweetin remembered Coulier would start a joke and Saget would do something equally outrageous to get his attention.
"It would just escalate from there," she said.
Of course, such playful behavior isn't too much of a surprise seeing how Coulier and Saget both got their start in comedy. The former was nearly cast on Saturday Night Live before starring on Full House. He previously shared that he lost the gig because NBC execs thought he was too similar to Dana Carvey.
Meanwhile, Saget, who died in 2022, was well-known for his raunchy standup routines. He was in the middle of his comedy tour at the time of his death.
During Full House, Sweetin said the child actors would often come across as more professional than their adult counterparts amid all the tomfoolery. Still, the middle Tanner daughter was quick to acknowledge that the show was "the best environment to work in."
