View Full Version : Mossopp - fashion victim?
Mossopp 11-07-2002, 03:33 PM I know this is pretty trivial but I'm interested in hearing your opinions on this:
I'm thinking of getting my hair shaved into a mohawk style (kinda like Jack Osbourne) and I want to know if you guys think this is a good idea. I've been thinking about this for a long time and I can think of reasons to go ahead with it but I can also think of plenty of reasons not to do it. Help!
I think I should do it cos...
I've wanted to since I was 15 and I never have.
I look pretty boring in my day-to-day life (Accountant's have to look boring - it's part of the job description  ) and I don't wanna disappear into obscurity before I even hit 21.
I think I'd have more chance of getting a girl if I actually stood out from the crowd a bit.
I think I'd look cool.
I'm sick of trying to conform to the way people expect me to be instead of just being myself.
I probably shouldn't do it cos.....
My mother will stop speaking to me.
I already get enough trouble for "looking like a dyke" as it is - I am liable to get my head kicked-in by the local homophobic wankers if I cut my hair any shorter than it already is.
Like I said, I work in an Accountant's office - I don't think my boss would approve.
What do you think?
Czas na Zywiec 11-07-2002, 03:40 PM Well I think if you might get in trouble at work, I say no. LOL plus I know how cold it can get in the winter. How about during the summer? Do you get a summer break at all or is this like a year round job. But really, it's up to what you want. Just tossing in my opinions, thats all......
Kay Scarpetta 11-07-2002, 04:07 PM Hmmm... tough one, on account of your job. Haha. Anyway, maybe you should ask your boss if it would be okay first, and that way you won't get fired?
If he/she says yes, I'd say go for it :D
Juss Like Jo Po 11-07-2002, 04:32 PM I wouldnt do that to my hair...but hey whatever floats your boat...go for it
On the 'live life as you see fit' level I'd say, heck yeah, cut your hair. It's such an itsy bitsy thing to do really. You ought not to put much weight in your mom's opinion. If she's already on you for "looking like a dyke" then her opinion is just so much wind anyway. The boss deal? Well, I don't know the whole story but I'd say that the boss has seen enough of you by now to have formed his or her opinions of you well enough to either overlook your new doo or to possibly even get a bit of a whoop out of it and not give you any grief at all. So, if you do it, have fun.
Jinny Girl 11-07-2002, 05:32 PM Well going by Kelly osbournes hair, if you let the mohawk in the middle and sides be a bit longer than usual, you can flatten the middle and push it to the side and it wont look to much like a mohawk. at least thats what she did. it worked.
Georgia's on my Mind 11-07-2002, 05:38 PM i would say no...
Crimson and Clover 11-07-2002, 06:32 PM id say yes, if you have wanted it since you were 15 then you should please yourself and not other people and just do it. at work you could just not wear it like a mohawk like what jinny girl said.
hmmm...
You've got some pretty scarry "shouldn'ts...but you wouldn't want to be boring and average...I say if you want it...go for it!
-*Forever*- 11-07-2002, 07:00 PM Yeah do it! Unless it gets ya fired.
¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 11-07-2002, 07:01 PM IMO, you should do it. Its what matters to YOU, not some boring people who cant have some fun. I bet their haircuts are sucky. Do it, but before you do, try to think of some ways to cover it up or style it in a way that wont upset your co-workers. A job is a necessity to get by, and you wouldnt want to jeopardize it by a haircut. Maybe you can find a happy medium to please both yourself and your workers. Good luck!
dawsongirl 11-07-2002, 07:20 PM I suppose it depends on how much you need you job. I know you don't like it, but if you need the money...well.
Too bad you don't already own your video store- you'd have less to worry about. :)

People shouldn't be putting you down, you should be able to look how you want to look. I say if it makes you happy then do it, don't pretend and make your life hell to satisfy other people if your boss fires you because you have a mohawk then that is one prejudice a$$hole.

I agree.
Penny Lane 11-07-2002, 08:23 PM No! Yuck! I have always liked long hair..................Man or woman! But I'm an "old" broad! What do I know!
DarleneIllyria 11-07-2002, 09:15 PM Do whatever you want Mossopp. It's your hair, isn't it? You could dye it pink or shave it all off if you wanted too. It's nice to be different instead of looking like everybody else. You said you've been wanting to do it since you were 15, so you aren't one to do it one day and wish you hadn't done it the next day. If you've wanted to do it for that long, then you'll like it. Go for it. The thing about the workers- If they say anything, just tell em to mind their own business. I like it and I don't care if you like it or not.
DarleneIllyria 11-07-2002, 09:22 PM If your boss says something about your hair, ask him what the problem is. If you're a good worker, than why should your hair matter? Being a good employee is the important thing.
