View Full Version : movie deal... should I?
EwansGirl 11-07-2002, 12:21 PM i need some help deciding about something... my uncle makes movies (just recently got a contract) for HBO and he asked me if i wanted to be in one of them... i cant decide... cuz if i do it i have to go to cali... and i could meet nancy... but if i dont i stay here with all my friends... any advice?
dlemond 11-07-2002, 12:37 PM Well I'd say go because years down the road you would regret not doing it.
It's not like a permanent move or anything, right? You'd be back home after a little while (months?) and you'll always have that experience.
Plus you may like the business and it may set you in a path towards a future career as a director, writer, actor, etc.
If you are just an extra in a crowd and have no real interest then
forget it. But if it's just that you are going to miss your friends then that is silly.
Hope that helps.
EwansGirl 11-07-2002, 12:44 PM thanks... it does help... i want to be an actor... but im not sure if NOW is the time... im only 14...
dlemond 11-07-2002, 01:02 PM You are young, but I would look at this as an educational trip (like I said I have no idea how long this is for).
Is this for a speaking part?
If this is for the big move to become an actor right now, I don't know what to tell you.
I'd go and work on the film and decide after its done what's best for you.
You'll never know if you don't try- and here's your chance.
Just be sure you don't burn any bridges at home or anywhere else in case it turns out not to be your cup of tea.
DarleneIllyria 11-07-2002, 02:43 PM I agree with dlemond. You could test the waters out. If you like it, you might have a permanent place as an actor. If you don't like it, you can go home to your friends. If you do sign the contract and you start to get homesick or whatever, maybe you can request they film all your scenes in one day.
Brian Damage 11-07-2002, 03:01 PM Let me tell you a quick story...
A few years ago I was offered a job as an assistant to a producer who who worked for Miramax films in NYC. The job was basically helping out the producer with things and getting him whatever he needed. It also required me to travel to and from NY to LA.
I turned it down because I had a girlfriend and wanted to be close to home. There isn't a day that goes by that I wish I hadn't turned down that job.
Think about it.
FOLrocks1 11-07-2002, 03:17 PM It all depends what kind of part it is.....
Juss Like Jo Po 11-07-2002, 03:19 PM GO!!!...just so you can meet nancy...and then when you do get her autograph for me!!

I think you should go - not to meet Nancy cos there's very little chance of that actually happening - but just for the experience.
Trust me, it's always the things that you don't do that you end up regretting the most. You don't wanna look back in 10 years time and think "Jeez, I wish I'd gone to Cali back then....."
Go for it, and good luck! :)
vienna waits 11-07-2002, 05:13 PM no, dont do it because its not like you're telling the truth anyways. :)

A little more elaboration about what it is you'd be doing in California on the set or whatever, would help to give us a better idea of just what it is, if anything, that this trip is offering to you.

LOL. My opinion is what kind of ****ing idiot would turn down a movie deal? it's like "Oh i wanna be famous... But Im 14 so Ill stay at home and listen to CDs with my friends!" why does everyone care about their "friends" inevitable ur friends wont like u anymore in 20 years and you'll be a boring person with bad looking hair like everyone else. God, screw friendship. Fullfilment of dreams only comes around once in a while. its not like u can just say "Maybe in a few years" because in a few years nobody will want you.
Crimson and Clover 11-07-2002, 06:15 PM i think you should go for it, if you dont like it then you can forget about it.

Sadly it's more like right after high school. The stupid girls I went to school with I don't talk to anymore 'cause they all turned on me- stuck up bitches.
The friends I have from elementary I still see though.
Ewan's My Man 11-07-2002, 10:53 PM I thiiiiiiiiiiiiiink...u should go...and ask for a paycheck in advance...so u can buy a computer...and then talk to me!!! Isn't that dandy!!! However...it IS HBO...I don't get HBO...u might haveta record it for me. OOO...and make sure it isn't R...u kno I can't see them R movies ;) :D.
List of things for u to do:
1.) Go to Cali
2.) Get a computer (not a laptop...COMPUTER...laptops suck)
3.) Work on movie
4.) Get on internet and talk to...*cough* ME *cough*
5.) Meet Nancy
6.) Get her autograph for us less fortunate *cough* ME *cough*
7.) Finish movie
8.) Come home
9.) Fly Ewan to America with ur money
10.) Lauren comes over
11.) Lauren passes out
12.) The End
EwansGirl 11-08-2002, 10:17 PM ok... some of you wanted more elaboration? i would have a part in a movie that my uncle has not titled yet (he and his co-writer cant agree on one) that would consist of killing my best friend and myself. It would be a MAJOR part in the movie and about meeting nancy, I definetely would if i went to cali because my uncle knows someone that works on TD and has talked to her personally... the reason i am hesitant is that things are going pretty well now and i dont want false friends just because i was in a movie. i have friends that will last and im happy with that. plus, im looking into other carreer options so im not sure if i want acting as a proffession or hobby.
Mysty Eyes 11-08-2002, 10:29 PM Ah, what the heck! Go for it!
Californians don't bite... much... or very hard! At least not all of us!

At the very least you'll have a fun experience.
 :happyface
