Just watched the episode where Uncle Joe announces his retirement, and of course, everyone has a good laugh, retire from what?? But was it ever mentioned what uncle joe did for a living?

In real life he was an Oral Surgeon and quit it to try his luck in Holly Weird ! Even stranger is his teeth on the show look REAL BAD !

I had heard that before. And I was also like What the what?? I can't picture him being in the medical/ dental profession. :eek:

1. We know Edgar Buchanan, as Uncle Joe, just sat around the Shady Rest on this show.

2. On Leave it to Beaver Edgar Buchanan, as Uncle Billy, just traveled around and visited the Cleavers a few times. (On the first episode filmed he played a zookeeper who cared for alligators.)

3. On Dennis the Menace he played a hermit who lived in a cabin.

So he was good a playing guys who were just loafers.

Yep.For sure! I think he made a good move going into show business.:) As I said before, I can't picture him in the profession he was first going for.
