There was actually a real life rock band named The Mosquitos, I know because I bought a "greatest hits" cd of theirs a couple years ago although I hadn't heard of them before. It's actually a double cd album with lots of songs and it's titled This Then Are...The Mosquitos LOL. I'm not even sure if that's grammatically correct! LOL but I think they're all right. I can't even tell you for sure when the band was active though.

While the show was fictional, the cast members, particularly David Cassidy and Shirley Jones,
performed live concerts as The Partridge Family. They toured in the early 1970s.
