Several sitcoms have been and still are created around somebody's stand-up comedy. Which ones are your favorites? Which ones do you despise?
My top three are Seinfeld, Roseanne and Ellen.
Everybody Loves Raymond is at the bottom of my list.

Everybody Loves Raymond would definately be at the bottom of my list as well.
As for the good ones.... by far --
Seinfeld, The Cosby Show, Home Improvement and Roseanne.

Roseanne, Ellen and Seinfeld in that order.
The worst being Everybody Loves Raymond and The Mike O'Malley Show that was on a few years ago (yea, after Guts and Life With Roger and before Yes Dear... NBC thought they had the next Jerry Seinfeld with him... and the show was horrible and only lasted a few weeks before they cancelled it)
Just Say Julie is definately another fave comedian-show.

it's funny that for what is currently the most popular sitcom on television (since Friends has left the building), that Raymond is being voted "worst" in a landslide, lol.
I just don't see the appeal in the show and how it's lasted 9 years, whereas something cutting-edge and original like Arrested Development just barely escaped cancellation.

I happen to like all of the aforementioned sitcoms, Roseanne being my absolute favorite, but I also like "Raymond." While it's not cutting edge like Roseanne, Ellen of Seinfeld, it's a funny show whose plotlines take something very simple and magnify it. I always remember the episode in which Ray nor Debra would talk about the piece of luggage left on the step, but both were getting increasingly angry that the other wouldn't move it. So Ray finally puts a piece of moldy cheese inside right before he goes out of town. The episode was hilarious.
The problem with AD is that it's too unique to be a mass appeal hit. The show is hilarious and very clever, but I can watch it and see why it's not a big hit. If we're lucky, Fox will cancel it next year so it can move to cable where its 6 million viewers would make it a smash.
"The Jeff Foxworthy Show," anyone?
All the networks tried to capitalize on the "standup sitcom" craze.
I remember short lived efforts by Lenny Clarke, Louie Anderson, Rick Reynolds, Richard Lewis, Sinbad, John Caponera, Carol Leifer...
The horror. The horror.
;)
Best: "Roseanne"
Worst: "Seinfeld"
