Not counting the Jetsons can you name a situation on a sitcom what was ahead of its time?
I'll start with Leave it to Beaver. Beaver sells bottled water in the episode, "Water Anyone?".

In the Beaver's IQ episode, Beaver recites to his mom all the things he thinks women do, like household chores, raising the kids, etc. She tells him that women nowadays are doctors and lawyers, etc.
This was 1960--pretty forward-thinking for that year.

Donna Reed had similar statements throughout the Donna Reed Show. Yet they didn't venture too far from what the women were doing then.

Thanks for the word of the day "anecdotal". I had to look that up.
I think The Mary Tyler Moore Show did a better job than That Girl. Ann Marie wasn't as independent as Mary Richards. Ann Marie relied on Donald a lot, and her father couldn't seem to let her go. Yet she did technically go out on her own with career ambitions. Mary Richards did those things independent of others.
