He was a sweet man who really cared for Sue. But after he proposed her family's anger was irritating. And what Axl said about never liking Darrin is bull since they were good friends for well over a decade and had that Boss Co company with Sean. But the producers never brought him back and the one time he was mentioned it was negatively. They did Darrin a disservice having him not willing to wait on marriage but they were clearly trying to get of him. Yet extremely unlikable Jeremy was one of Sue's replacement boyfriends.

This is not directed at you, OP. But I just have to say, after stalking the Reddit page, WE GET IT about how Darren was 20 and she was barely 18. Every other post on there is “omg Sue and Darrin are so cRinGE cuz of their aGe gAP.” If I recall, he never ever tried anything super inappropriate or way out of line with her, such as trying to get her into bed. Yes, proposing while she was still a senior in HS was a little much. But come on … enough. Darren was just a big lovable doofus. I also heard John Gammon speak on the Middling Pod and he has a thick southern drawl! lol.

I agree, the show did not handle Darrin well. I'd kind of forgotten about him, just like the producers did.
