What are your opinions on the spin-off series Tabitha?

I especially liked Lisa Hartman, she is great for the role, and the plots are one of a kind. I liked the witchcraft used on the show it really adds a magic touch.

What is your opinion of Tabitha?

I thought that the series was pretty entertaining. But, at the end of the episode I saw (the early Sunday morning episode), it seemed to become too much of an after-school special. But, all in all, I liked it.

Tonight will be the last night for Tabitha in the TV Land Kitschen, I was hoping TV Land would be airing more episodes from the series, but unfortunely it leaves and airs for the last time tonight. Anyways, if it does return again, it possibly could air in a box set anytime in the future, but I doubt it would happen. Otherwise, what are your thoughts or overlook on the show at this point, what do you think of the series over-all?

I would give it probably a 5. It would be nice if they showed "Bewitched" and "Tabitha" back to back too. And maybe "I Dream of Jeannie" could air before those two.

...I liked Tabitha, mostly due to the charm of Lisa Hartman. The show itself was very cute. I even liked the theme song which, mercifully, avoided the embarrassing disco beat I was expecting.

Now for the bad news:
- Cloned Bewitched storylines. :sleep2:
- Cloned Bewitched sound effects/sound tracks.
- Cloned Bewitched (antiquated) visual effects. :eyes2:
- Inferior production quality. (Was it me or did every shot look fuzzy or blurry?) :eek3:

In spite of all that, I'm going to miss it. :(

Yes, but TV Land didn't air the pilot.

Tabitha has a total of 13 episodes.

The only thing I knwo about this show is the theme opening that the Bewitched site had, but by the way that it looks, I think that it would be agreat show to watch. Of course, i read somewhere that "Tabitha" did not really win viewers in it's original run. There were a few reasons:

1- The original actress that played Tabitha was too young for the part (she was about 13 in 1977). Even Erin Murphy herself said that if they had waited a few years, she would have been on the show.

2- The show kept getting bumped off due to pre-emptions.

3- NO ONE FROM THE ORIGINAL SHOW was on it.

This show came 4 years after "Bewitched" and Tabitha's a full grown woman with her own life? Whoa, Totally disbelieveable! I agree, they should have waited a few years because the old "Bewitched' was still fresh in everyone's minds.

Like I said in my previous post, I really liked this show. Even though it's not the same as Bewitched I think Lisa Hartman was a good choice for Tabitha and she does remind me of Elizabeth with all that golden blonde hair. Even if they had waited a few years for Erin Murphy, I think should would've been great as the adult Tabitha, as well. I hope they re-show it on TVL because I missed a couple episodes that they did show. Oh well, at least I have some of them!

"Tabitha" is like a cross between "Bewitched" and "Mary Tyler Moore". It was okay but not great. Lisa Hartman was pretty cute.

I'm not sure that the whole time frame thing was that big a problem. Who's to say how many years have passed in the television world anyway? Look how quickly little Ricky went from a baby to a little boy on "I Love Lucy."

I do think "Tabatha" would have been better if they had more of the original cast, showing possible conflict between her and her father over witchcraft and different generational ideas with Sam and Endora. I think this would have worked better even if they had to get all new cast members to play these old roles. "Bewitched" has never been afraid of replacing cast members in the same roles anyway. Just some thoughts.

I remember seeing that show when it first came out. I notice two thing if I'm not mistaken.
1. They said that Adam was a mortal when he wasn't.
2. They made Adam the older child and had a problem with witchcraft like Darrin which personally seem stale.

Am I mistaken about these two points?

I like Tabitha. It's no Bewitched, sure, but it's pretty decent. I get a real kick out of the theme song, too. And Lisa Hartman is so cute. Also, any excuse to see Dr. Bombay. My only real gripe is the unoriginal angle they went with for Adam. Making him mortal wouldn't have bothered me so much if they hadn't made him just as bad - if not worse than - his father. Actually, it's weirder for Adam to have this attitude about witches. You'd think he'd be a little more accepting about it, considering his MOTHER is one. It's one thing when you're resenting your wife using witchcraft; it's a different thing when your resenting your own mother. Like, his attitude toward Aunt Minerva is reminscint of Darrin's attitude toward Endora, which is WEIRD because, if I'm not mistaken, Aunt Minerva would be Adam's relative, too. Maybe I haven't seen enough episodes to make a real judgment of it, but yeah. That made me sad.

And where did this Aunt Minerva come from? What was the actual relationship there? I saw "Tabitha", years ago but can hardly remember anything about it. Bernard Fox and Sandra Gould guested on it. The Gladys Cravitz storyline had something to do with her adapting/looking after a black girl..is that right? I barely remember it.

Yeah, that confused me, too. I mean, I guess it's possible that maybe she was Tabitha's great aunt or something. Because if she was Tabitha's aunt, then Sam must have had a sister that we never heard about and that bothers me. Of course, I could just be thinking too much about this.

Was going to make a new thread about this, but I'll post here...personally, I LOVE this show! Ever since it came on last fall I fell in love with it, now that it's back on I'm getting an even bigger kick out of it. I'm not sure what it is, but it just has a cool overall "feel" to it. Sort of comforting, soporific, calming, a good-to-fall-asleep-to-and-let-run-all-night show, ya know? The star and co-stars are great, and so is Aunt Minerva - she's a hoot! She really could have brought a unique element to Bewitched when it was in it's last few seasons...the theme song is awesome too!! Just wish they'd show all the eps...under different cirumstances, this could have been a late 70s hit...the episode with the little black girl is hysterical!!

"You got it sister!"

"Ain't no elevator been built that can't hold me!"

Well only 11 episodes aired so really It's a bit hard to make a good opinon on it since there wasn't any time to get good charater devlopment or additions/subtractions to the show to make it work plus they couldn't have had an ongoing story line , but all in all it coulda worked if they had waited a few more years and did the show in the 80's instead , but I had no idea only 11 episdodes aired wow .

Still, it's a cool show. I don't blame anything except the repeated claim of "irregular scheduling" that caused this shows demise. It was a funny, cozy show with a great cast and great writing, and had it been aired in prime time with a decent time slot, I truly think it would have been, at least, a minor hit...

An episode of "Tabitha" came on while I was channel surfing last night; I'd never seen this show at all before but I could only watch 10 minutes of it. Not to say that the premise wasn't good and Lisa Hartman wasn't cute as a grown up Tabitha. I just think some things should be left alone, and Bewitched is one of them.

I agree with "Sitcom Sally". I don't like "Tabitha". I tried to give it a fair shot, but just couldn't get into it. It's boring to me. I do like Lisa Hartman in other things, though. But "Bewitched" should never have had a spin-off - especially with none of the old "regulars" on it.

I took the series out of the library. The original pilot with Liberty Williams was putrid (and a complete ripoff of the original Bewitched pilot). In the series itself, while it was nothing great, Lisa Hartman and Robert Urich were very likable. In one Tabitha episode, Dick Wilson (Bewitched's resident drunk) shows up as - what else? - a drunk. It was also nice to see guest appearances by Bernard Fox, George Tobias, and Sandra Gould. Otherwise, magic didn't strike twice, and several cast members went on to bigger and better things.
