I had never heard of The Popcorn Kid until I came across it in the TV Tango today. One season sitcom that aired on CBS in 1987, it is about high schoolers working at a movie theater's concession stand. One of those high schoolers was played by Faith Ford. The Popcorn Kid had a Monday launch, then moved to Fridays starting with episode 2. It would have had a better chance of success on NBC or ABC, which both aired much more youth oriented sitcoms than CBS. Just as well it failed, otherwise we might not have gotten Corky Sherwood on Murphy Brown.

She went on to prime time from there.
