A curious question from a YouTube community member sent me down a rabbit hole of research where I discovered the touching tale of Elizabeth Montgomery's final visit to Dick York's deathbed, a story that tugged at my heartstrings. But...is it real?

I believe that Elizabeth Montgomery did not visit Dick York on his death bed. In the whole scheme of things, it would have been very nice if she had. I would love to be proven wrong.

York himself stated on one of those Hollywood tell-all shows that when he was near the end he called Elizabeth and she ''couldn't come to the phone or was out.'' So it is safe to assume she never went to Michigan to visit him. I doubt she even returned his phone call.

This story is pure fiction, a fantasy put together by some fan, or some mischief maker.

How would York know Montgomery's phone number at that stage of the game. He probably made that up so he would have an answer if the question was asked. The way I would imagine something like that working is through some third party who might be able to broker a call (an agent, some behind the scenes person who York remained in contact with etc....). To be honest with respect to York, I don't think Montgomery wanted anything to do with him, did she ever mention him in interviews after Bewitched ended.
