I know 2 or 3 times, Mama has called people "4-eyes", once was the Jeopardy episode, "Eat my dust, 4-eyes!" and a couple of other times as well. Usually Mama's insults really LAND, but that just seemed cringe-worthy, for OBVIOUS reasons!

I've worn glasses since I was like 9, and in school I wanted to try out Mama's insult on another kid with glasses, so I called him "4-eyes", and he INSTANTLY retorted, "I'D TALK, 4-EYES!" right back at me lol Realistically THAT would have been the exact retort they would have given back to Mama.... of course I know that was the syndicated era of the show, and Mama was like all powerful over everyone, but still, it looked SO out of place! lol

She wore glasses herself so its not the best insult. How about when she call the guy at the DMV "skin head" and told him he needed her hair. LOL

Yeah that was my issue with the 4-eyes one, she wore glasses herself lol, It wasn't that I thought she was being too MEAN, it just didn't make sense. The skinhead one at least landed.

As far as I can remember the 2 times I thought Mama was TOO over the top was with Finstatler*sp* Fran's will executor, I thought she was over the top nasty to him. And at McRay's where she goes off on her family, and goes over and wrecks another family's table in the process.... while funny of course, in real life, to just be minding your own business trying to have a meal and get FORCED into the crossfires of someone else's drama really SUCKS

That was a funny moment at McRays. Notice its a rare moment that Dorothy can't keep a straight face as Thelma destroys the family's table. It looks like the Carol Burnett show for a moment. I am surprised they kept Dorothy laughing in that take.
