Flo was well gone by season 8. Mel was missed this episode. It is cringy but I still watch it like a train wreck. Mel's mom did add some things to the show late in its run which is sometimes hard to do with new characters. The episode was making a point about age discrimination. The show rarely did that but it was very common in the 1980s for sitcoms to tackle social issues. The Breakdancing episode is another one where current trends of the 80s were exhibited on the show.

I found out the Vic Tayback was missing in this episode because he was recovering from heart surgery. During the season he missed two episodes due to recovery
