New seasons of television used to arrive every fall, like clockwork. The entire TV industry revolved around this basic seasonality. And then streamers like Netflix arrived and changed everything.
But how? And why? The system seemed to work pretty well, before. Nowadays it regularly takes 2 or even 3 years between seasons of shows like Severance, Wednesday, House of the Dragon, Poker Face, The Last of Us, and others.
Will new shows like The Pitt bring us back to a bygone era? Or are they just an anomaly in the new order?
