who was your fave on the show accept for lucy , i always have liked Fed and Ethel i huink they really make the show with out them , what would the show be? and think they are just rigt for the roles !

It was a toss up between him and half the members of his band, anyway. I always thought it was a shame they didn't give more screen time to the guy with the moustache who used to sit at the front and play bongos. He often used to be giggling in the background, especially when Lucy was messing about.

I think i've been wasting all my time watching Lucy while so many of you have noticed all these minuscule details i never noticed! Guy with a mustache? You mean the one where she has that beard stuck to her with that cement? Guess not! That's my problem, it took me years to realize there were other people on those shows!

Vivian Vance for sure...she was a brillant actress who was a perfect sidekick for Lucy and I really think that after the show ended people didn't apperciate her as much because she wasn't with Lucy. :( Which sucks because she was great at acting and could really take on all kinds of roles.

Don't you think it was her mental problems that ended her career, i mean they tried to give her that pilot, but she just couldn't do it! You're right, such a great actress reduced to doing coffee commercials!

The guy with the moustache is usually in the scenes featuring the band, at least during the first season. He often sits next to Marco, either with bongos or a set of maracas. Watch "Men Are Messy". He's the one who throws the straw hats to Desi during the great Straw Hat Song. He has some lines in "Lucy Is Jealous Of Girl Singer", and you can see him quite plainly in "The Audition", giggling at Lucy's antics as Buffo the Clown. I don't actually know who he is - whether he was genuinely a member of Desi's band, or if he was a plant with some acting 'sperience, since he did have lines on occasion. Plays well, and the chemistry's there, so I'd imagine he's genuine. He's in "The 'Lost' Pilot" as well, now I come to think of it, so he must have been a part of the band.

Yep, just checked some sleeve notes (which I should have done first!) and his name is Pepin Betancourt, and he was a part of the orchestra. So there you go.

Can't say that I blame you there. Even in this day and age, female characters are usually boring, underwritten and two-dimensional. It's hard to find a reason to like them more than the male ones.

No, we haven't forgotten. Certainly Lucy's stubborness was very important - but then so was Desi's! They were both equally necessary for the show to work, after all. (But Desi is still the best! :))

Were you away for the weekend or something, Splain? You went very quiet for a couple of days and then suddenly reappeared with a whole string of posts. Actually come to that the whole place seemed to go dead over the weekend. I guess everybody went away, except me!

I never post on weekends Mickey as i do these from work, i'm thinking of getting a laptop, but i LOVE getting away from computers for the weekend, besides, if i had one at home, i might never get anything else done! Mickey, come on the OTHER boards, that way we can get more stuff said! Yesterday i spent the whole day on those five boards and practically got no work done, so i had to work last night and am going crazy today!

Well, it's true! As for you Bearverfan, dun't you like the cackler in the middle of your two faves? That whole sequence from the picture you show is one of my all time favorite scenes! Anybody who has ever witnessed female friends playing cards has got to say that was right on!

I agree, that was a FUNNY scene! And I like that lady in the middle (i don't remember her name, just that she does CACKLE! she isn't marion something or other is she?) She's just not one of my FAVORITES...I guess she can't be...I can't even remember her name!

That's one area i disagree with lots of people about, i like my kids real, like on Roseanne, they yelled and screamed and misbehaved like all real kids do, no that fake way of talking like Beaver and Brady Bunch and Family affair and all those other FAKE kids. Of course i agree that i would have KILLED the kids on Roseanne, whereas the 7th heaven and 8 is enough type is easier to watch!

That's a good point, actually. If I ever acquire some kids from somewhere (and I kinda pity them if I do!) I wouldn't mind them being like the kids in Malcolm In The Middle. Wouldn't want these weird ones like in some shows though. The ones that never get dirty, or argue with each other. They're not kids, they're like something out of Stepford!

My God, you both replied positively to that statement, i'm shocked, i always thought maybe it's just me that feels that way. I was raised that if my parents said no, it was no, they never hit or threatened, they didn't have to, a LOOK was all i needed, and i agree with you MIckey, i might be stern with my kids too, i like discipline in kids, but they would know that i would love them to death, i would make sure of that! As for you Beaverfan, there's nothing wrong with that show, i used to watch it all the time growing up and wanted a brother like Wally, they were great role models, actually, they used to fight all the time, so they were ok, it's the Brady Bucnch stepford ones i worry about, and even they were nice , you'd want them as neighbors!

In a world of Lucy lovers, you love Desi, so i think it's you, you're odd, no no i was just joking! I meant that when i was a kid, i couldn't stand the musical numbers on the show, but now i've grown to LOVE them. I find that i used to love a certain movie, but i play it now and i think, what the heck did i love about that? But then again, mayne it's me, i am an oddball, and i'm not joking this time!

Hmm. You could be right. The first time I saw "Spaceballs" I thought it was hilarious - but then I was watching it in a college common room with six other people, all of us hiding from our teachers, and using a TV and VCR we'd nicked from the science labs with a very flimsy excuse... My point being that I saw it again about a month back and couldn't stick more than half an hour. So I guess tastes do change, sometimes! For the most part, though, I find that mine don't. My favourite song is the same one it's been since I was three years-old, my favourite TV show has remained the same since 1983...

Okay, now I just sound boring! Tastes do change, though. I used to like William Shatner.

Bill is from here in Montreal, and he's kinda creepy looking nowadays, and i NEVER like anybody who thinks he's it. The only thing i liked about him is when he went on Saturday Night Live and made fun of Trekkies, i thought it took lots of guts to have the nerve to do that! I used to watch Star Trek on TV back then, but mostly out of loyalty to Desilu as it was one of their shows. Lucy is responsable for the billion dollar Star Trek franchise today, as well as the one for Mission Impossible. It was her own money that made them happen!
