Sadly, It's true. I got the same E-mail from Celebrity Death Beeper & once you get an E-mail from them, You don't have to confirm the death. It's pretty much written in stone that the celebrity in question has indeed passed on. Nipsey was one hell of a funny man & his wit and charm were unmatched on Match Game & other game shows. R.I.P. Nipsey, you will be missed.:(

Loved his poetry and that big smile. His funniest line was, "boy, you should see the hotel they put me up in last night. The towels were so big and fluffy, I had a terrible time closing my suitcase."
Sadly, he had a game show (he was host) called "YOUR NUMBER'S UP."
How prophetic...

Yes, it's true. Some reports listed Nipsey's age as 80 or 82.
Actor Nipsey Russell dies at 80
Tuesday, October 4, 2005; Posted: 9:35 a.m. EDT (13:35 GMT)
NEW YORK (AP) -- Nipsey Russell, the "poet laureate of television," died of cancer Sunday afternoon at age 80.
The television, film and stage actor died at Lenox Hill Hospital, his longtime manager Joseph Rapp said.
Russell was a fixture on popular television game and variety shows, where he was welcomed for his poetic delivery. He also took his signature four-line poetry on the road for readings and performances.
He launched his television career as Officer Anderson in the 1961 television series "Car 54, Where are You?" He also appeared in the 1994 film version.
Russell played the Tin Man alongside Diana Ross and Michael Jackson in the 1978 film "The Wiz."
Russell also appeared in the films "Nemo" in 1984, "Wildcats" in 1986 and "Posse" in 1993.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia, he settled in New York after graduating from the University of Cincinnati and serving as an Army captain in Europe during World War II, Rapp said.
Russell never married. "He always said, 'I have trouble living with myself, how could I live with anyone else,"' Rapp said. "But he was a wonderful guy, very quiet, never bragged."

Since Nipsey was known as the "poet-lauriete" of television, think up a poem. :)
Nipsey Russell, whose a man of class
Had humor for every season
Thanks so much for your poetry
I first heard on "Rhyme and Reason".

I just heard on Fox News. Nipsy was a funny man. I saw some of his movies long time ago but I know him well on the Match Game. He was always funny on that show and came up with funny but strange answers. MAY HE REST IN PEACE. I hate to say it, but we are losing the best people in the world.

I believe that he was the best Prymand player they ever had on and about the 2nd best celebrity panilist to ever play any of the game shows. And the best part is;no one seems to notice that he was Black;to everyone,he was just another celebrity being funny, silly, and when it counted, serious and on the ball.Correct me if I'm wrong, but I beleive that he was the frist Black celebrity to ever play on game shows.Reguardless,He will be miss.

GSN aired a special episode of "To Tell the Truth" (1980) in tribute to the late civil rights legend Rosa Parks last Friday and Nipsey DQ'ed (disqualified) himself since he knew who the real one was. He was at a benefit concert he mentioned and met her there. (Rosa was #3 in the second game on TTTT '80 with host Robin Ward).
