California Dreams, a staple of summer holiday mid-morning television in the UK, and probably shown in the USA, I don't know, I've never been there. Truly the most "I wish Saved By The Bell was on" television that has ever existed.

1992 was a huge year for the late Peter Engel as his teen show Saved By The Bell was still going strong and based on the success of Saved By The Bell Peter Engel knew it was time to create a new teen sitcom that was gonna be as big as Saved By The Bell but centered around a group of teens wanting to start a pop music group and thus California Dreams was born. And from the time the first episode debuted NBC knew that they had another hit from Peter Engel on their hands because when you get the general picture California Dreams was essentially Saved By The Bell with a music based theme and as with music based sitcoms such as The Partridge Family were popular California Dreams fit in with that genre of sitcom. But I think when California Dreams started to decline and this is probably why it got cancelled was when Jennie Kwan joined the show and it hurt the show a lot and soon it seemed like most of the original cast was replaced by newcomers and then California Dreams started to wane. But I think Peter Engel got his wish for a second teen sitcom for NBC and it became a hit just like he wanted
