Tracking October 2002 cable networks in PRIMETIME and comparing them to last OCtober (2001) in primetime:
Overall, only eight cable networks out of the 49 tracked by Turner Research were up by double digits in primetime from last October: They are, in order of their rankings: Nickelodeon/Nick at Nite (up 13%), Learning Channel (22%), Sci Fi Channel (29%), MTV (14%), Court TV (17%), Lifetime Movie Network (17%), FX (20%) and Weather Channel (50%).
By contrast, 18 cable networks were down by double digits in primetime compared with last October. They include (also in order of rankings): Cartoon Network (down 12%), TBS (19%), CNN (39%), A&E (18%), Discovery (10%), TNN (20%), TV Land (33%) and BET (29%).
Also down were MSNBC (55%), Animal Planet (20%), ESPN2 (33%), Soap Net (43%), Toon Disney (20%), VH1 (20%), Travel Channel (25%), CNBC (60%), Headline News (50%) and Great American Country (50%).
