She makes Velma sound slow and nasally with an unnaturally deep voice (https://www.watchmojo.com/articles/how-velma-has-been-portrayed-over-the-years) that sounds like it wants to be higher pitched. I don't want to talk about her performance too much, but I think she would've been better off if she would do more her own take rather than trying to imitate her predecessors.
