"After 40 years we asked what do the fans want"

What we REALLY WANT is for stuff to be as good as they were in the 80s :(

I'm a little surprised Rick Moranis agreed to do it. He hasn't appeared in an on-camera film since 2006. It will be nice to see him again on the big screen.

It won't be the same without Barf (John Candy). :(

It unfortunately got postponed (scrapped) due to the pandemic, but he was set to come back for Shrunk, a sequel to Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.

Josh Gad, who was cast as adult Nick, said that everyone's scheduling had made it difficult to do when everything resumed. He said they were just about to start production before the lockdowns. I really hope this one happens.

Spaceballs Sequel Set for April 2027 Release Date
by Angelique Jackson
April 3, 2026

Amazon MGM Studios has set Mel Brooks‘ long-awaited Spaceballs sequel to debut next spring.

The sci-fi spoof movie, which marks a return to acting for star Rick Moranis, will be released on April 23, 2027, in time for the cult classic’s 40th anniversary.

Moranis will reprise his role in the goofy intergalactic adventure as Lord Dark Helmet alongside Bill Pullman as Lone Starr, Daphne Zuniga as Princess Vespa, and George Wyner as Colonel Sandurz.

Brooks, 99, a winner of the coveted EGOT and hailed as one of the greatest comedic filmmakers in Hollywood history, also returns as the Yoga-esque being Yogurt.

Josh Gad headlines the new cast, which also features Keke Palmer, Anthony Carrigan and Lewis Pullman, Bill’s son.

Josh Greenbaum is directing from a script by Gad, Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez.

I love Mel Brooks movies and wished he had done a sequel to his 1981 movie "History of the World, Part I". I thought that movie was so much funnier than Space Balls :)

Thanks for that info as I was not aware of that TV show. I was reading some of show's description and it seem to be a funny TV series with sketches making fun of major history events. For example in one episode where after inventing the telephone, Alexander Graham Bell gets the first Spam call :D

Don't have access to Hulu :( Maybe I catch it on some other streaming services that are available on Roku TV that don't require membership.
