Far too young to die at age 56 (November 27, 1941 – May 7, 1998), he left behind collection of memorable songs that top the charts. Here is one of my favorite (You Can't Run From Love):

Didn't know "Kentucky Rain" was written by Eddie Rabbitt. Thanks for that info. Very good song and only heard the version of it by Elvis. It put that song in new prospective :)

Every which way but loose

Love the song and the movie also with the same title. That was probably Clint Eastwood's silliest movie :D

Wow, I'm 56 now too, the same age Eddie died at!

I really like that song too, other favorite Eddie Rabbitt songs of mine are I Love A Rainy Night and his duet with Crystal Gayle, You And I.

I could never figure out how on earth You And I became a hit duet for Eddie Rabbitt and Crystal Gayle? But for some reason You And I is one of the top country love songs of the 80's and how Crystal Gayle got to duet with Eddie Rabbitt for You And I is a mystery? Eddie Rabbitt also dueted with Juice Newton on Juice's album Cheap Love too

He had so many good ones it's almost impossible to pick a favorite. I'll mention a few no else mentioned:

I Don't Know Where to Start

Suspicions

Someone Could Lose a Heart Tonight

Step By Step

You and I

I know it was already mentioned but I have to add Every Which Way but Loose, a great song.

Back in the 70's and 80's doing duets in country music with big stars was fashion of the day as it create hits for both stars. And even bigger hits if it is a love song and get crossed over to Pop music chart. The biggest one probably being "Islands in the Stream" by Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton.

I love"Kentucky Rain", by Elvis Presley, but Jimmy Ellis nailed it.

Eddie also wrote this hit for Ronnie Milsap.

I listened to all three versions of that song by Jimmy Ellis, Eddie Rabbit and Elvis. Although Eddie wrote it, Elvis sing it with so much more emotion and feeling. So prefer Elvis version :)
