Question: What were the biggest creative problems with the “Night Court” reboot that aired on NBC from 2023 to 2025? (https://www.quora.com/What-were-the-biggest-creative-problems-with-the-Night-Court-reboot-that-aired-on-NBC-from-2023-to-2025)
It wasn’t very funny - While a lot of what was on the original series would now be deemed to be offensive, when it was funny, it was. The new Night Court (https://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=488398) wasn’t funny.
Melissa Rauch - She was great during Big Bang, but here she was woefully miscast. She can be funny..however this outing she just wasn’t funny enough.
John Laroquette just seemed to be tired - Frankly between the first Night Court and his titular series, it seems that viewers have grown tired Laroquette and his “shtick.”
Lacretta was the LEAST funny bailiff who was ever cast in the role on either series - Basically “sassy Black woman” doesn’t work anymore and Night Court seems to have missed the memo.
Too many members of the original cast are deceased and that definitely cast a pall over the series - Basically Laroquette and Marsha Warfield are the only two still with us and both of them acted like they wanted to be somewhere else. Without Harry Anderson, Richard Moll or Markie Post to make cameo appearances, things just weren’t the same.
Frankly, the Night Court reboot was a cash grab that failed to snatch any actual cash. It’s first season ratings were mediocre and things never improved.
Here’s what was supposed to be funny:

Yes, I know they were desperate and brought Raj in to help keep the sinking ship afloat…
It didn’t work.
