I figured out how to get your favorite show released on DVD. Just hope one of the stars becomes infamous for something awful. I noticed that guy from from Baretta that is accused of killing his wife gets his show released on DVD Tuesday. Is there any chance that show would have ever been released if he was not arrested? I guess to get WKRP on DVD one of the stars has to off somebody. I also noticed that "My so called Life" is getting released and they must have made all of about 20 of them. I just don't get the shows they choose to release sometimes....

Licensing is a big reason.

WKRP is one show that is tied up in serious red tape. The music rights are supposedly so complicated that it screws up the whole process.

Recent shows are a lot more easily released, as the there are clearer lines as to distribution, ownership, and all that other nonsense.

Also, shows like My So Called Life are recognized as fan favorites and possible good sellers regardless of the bad ratings or cancellation.

I believe Baretta was already planned on being released well before he was arrested or the crime happened. Baretta was airing on TV Land at the time his wife was killed.
