Who did you most likely prefer. I thought Shelly Long(Diane Chambers) was a much better charachter and a better part of the show. What are your thoughts?:happyface :happyface

I will say Rebecca.

And I will still say Rebecca Next week when this topic gets posted for the 263rd time.

For me, it's Diane all the way. I think Cheers lost a lot with Shelley Long's departure. Sam and Diane were, in my opinion, the best tv couple ever.
They certainly tried to duplicate the magic with Rebecca, but it didn't happen.

I've watched Cheers for a little over a year now and my outcome of choosing is: I can't. I like Diane and Rebecca equally.

I dunno, I guess I like Rebecca a little bit better.

I'm a Diane fan myself! Not that I don't like Rebecca, mind you...

Rebecca!! I hate the Diane years... even though my favorite episode is from them... we won't go there.

THE DIANE YEARS ALL THE WAY!!! I have every episode on tape and all the columbia house tapes too!!! I can watch them OVER AND OVER AND OVER again!

I rather enjoyed the Diane years. Diane and Sam had such good chemistry. And I loved the catfights between Carla and Diane. I really don't like Rebecca, I'm sorry to say. I thought she was annoying (sorry to everyone who is a Rebecca fan).

I've siad it before and ill say it agians! Kirstie Alley is about twice the actress Shelley Long is....She's a wonderfull actress.:)

Shelly Long. I liked Kirstie Alley. I just love Shelly's work on the show though.

Shelley Long was better-Diane & Sam were a great couple! Sam is so cute! Kirstie Alley got on my nerves in the beginning, but after a while, she was okay. Shelley didn't wear those heinous shoulder pads like Kirstie did. Sam's blue sweater is my fave outfit on him.

Shelley Long by a wide..............margin.

Kirstie was very good, but she wasn't close to Shelley Lonng in humor or appeal.

I guess kirstie. i really didn't like either one. Cause i thought during diane years they focued on sam and diane to much and it started to get old. Remember the episode where sam bought the bar back and rebecca was working for some car show?? there was some manager sam hired and everyone liked him. I wish they would have kept him he reminded me of coach. that was the best cheers in my opinion.

Definately Shelley Long. Shelley had so much chemistry with other characters unlike Kirstie Alley. Kirstie didn't fit in and her nueroses were too much of a stale running gag. I'm glad the show stayed on after Shelley but it just wasn't as funny without Diane. She was so patronizing with everyone and I always laughed when Carla started on her Diane jokes. Diane and Sam were a great couple too.:happyface

I think both Shelley and Kirstie are great actresses, but character-wise, I prefer Rebecca. I liked the character better and I think the Rebecca years are funnier.

I still have to say Diane!!!! Rebecca was okay , but i hated the way she cried all the time!!!!! I think Shelley is a way better actress than Kirstie Alley!!! The camera loves Shelley and the camera hates Kirstie!!! no offense Kirstie fans!!! Shelley i thought worked better with the cast than Kirstie did!!! Everybody seemed so tense when Kirstie was on the show!!!! With Shelley everybody seemed so relaxed!!! I LOVE SHELLEY LONG!!!!

i have said it before and i will say it again SHELLEY!!!

Shelley!!!! Diane was the best! that character was voted most one of the most unforgetable and original characters of our time by T.V. GUIDE magazine!!!! Her chemistry with everybody was great!!!! especially with Sam! I have never seen that type of Chemistry on television or will ever see it again!!!! OMG i love the Diane years!! they were the BEST!!!!!

Diane!!! I don't like Kirstie that much, except in the later years. zno offense to Kirstie fans. The last ep is gr8, 'cause Diane comes back! :) My yfave characters are still Sam, Carla, Diane & Woody. I luv Cliff, Norm, Frasier & Lilith too.
