Yeah, we all know TECHNICALLY its a fruit, but what do you consider it to be? I still call it a vegetable. I was always taught thats what it is, plus, it just tastes more like a veggie LOl. Fruits are sweet and you can put them on ice cream or put whipped cream on them..vegetables you put salad dressing on. I wouldnt put ice cream on a tomato, nor would I put salad dressing on blueberries!

I always assumed it was a vegetable. It seems strange that it should be a vegetable because it's used in a vegetable manner a lot but the fact is that it's a fruit. It's a strange kind of fruit, though.

Well I guess I sort of think it as a veggie, since it's used in a "veggie" way.

Did you know pumpkins are a fruit? And zucchini? And squash? Etc.... there's all sorts of things we think of as veggies that are really fruits, so really, tomatoes aren't that strange after all...

What kind of world are we living in where pumpkins and tomatoes are fruit? I mean there should be this rule fruit is sweet and vegetables...aren't sweet and that's that.

I grew up with it as a veggie and it's gonna stay a veggie in my mind, even if it's really considered a fruit. ;)

Tomatoes are FRUITS. They don't TASTE like them, but they are because seeds are found IN them, while a vegetable doesn't contain them. They just grow from them. (Yeah, I know--how do you GET the seeds to plant from vegetables, then?? )

Other fruits commonly considered as vegetables:

Pumpkins
Squash, including zucchini
Avocadoes

Corn is not a vegetable, either. It is a GRAIN.

Corn is a grain?! Where I have I been?! What are other grains that are commonly called veggies or fruits?

Yes, corn IS a grain. That's why they make it into CEREAL, because it's a CEREAL GRAIN. Like Spoon-size Shredded WHEAT,
RICE Krispies, Cracklin' OAT Bran, and Kellogg's CORN Flakes.

Btw, if booze is made from grains and hops, does THAT make it cereal??  IT'S PART OF YOUR 4 BASIC FOOD GROUPS!!!!:liplick:
