Between Youtube, Pluto and all the other streaming sites that is making our favorite shows so easy access online do u find yourself still watching DVD's?. Most of the newer TV's dont even allow you to hook up a DVD player and the computers with DVD players are much phased out. The last time I binge watch a TV show on DVD was during the pandemic. At that time I had not transitioned to a Smart TV yet to even know what streaming services were available. If I watch a DVD now its on the laptop to answer a question someone has online about a certain episode. But I realized all the DVDs I bought during the pandemic is just taking up space because I dont even think about them much. These are all the shows I been watching UNCUT on youtube that I have on DVD which much better quality

I don't really like doing the streaming stuff and much prefer having a DVD collection of favorite classic shows. So for me, DVD is where it's at, not streaming. I don't know the exact number but I have DVD's of many favorite classic shows, sitcoms and dramas, most are complete series but a small number are not. Burke's Law is one series that I don't have complete. Only season 1 has been released on DVD, not season 2. Mantronix Retro TV is a good website source for classic TV DVD. I got season 3 of The White Shadow, season 3 of The Flying Nun, and the complete series of Family from Mantronix.

Funny you should ask. I think my DVD player is going bad, so I was looking around yesterday. I found this one that is $27.99 for a AV cable connection (yellow and red) version and $31.95 for an HDMI version connection. So yeah, if you look around you should find what you need.

I watch TV and DVD's through the old style CRT type of TV. I have a few CRT TV's in storage in case the ones I'm currently using ever conk out. I like those CRT TV's, not really into these new modern ones.

I would recommend keeping the DVD's you have and find a way to be able to play them again. A DVD player with HDMI connection to a smart TV might be what you need, explore that option. Wishing you good luck. :)

We seem to share a fondness for the older technology. I know you like VHS, I use both, VHS and DVD.

I still have a modest collection of TV on DVD and Blu-ray but hardly watch them. I mostly just watch free stuff on Pluto TV.

However, I won’t be getting rid of my collection. It’s still nice to actually OWN the physical media of your favorite shows and in the event the internet goes out or I can’t afford it, I’ll always have backup.

Just buy a Blu-ray player and connect with HDMI. A Blu-ray player will play DVDs.

I think like with vinyl records, there will be a market for physical media but it has drastically decreased.

Something that physical media has that streaming doesn't are the special features (Documentaries, Commentaries). Also, not everything may be carried over for newer physical releases.

As mentioned before, not everything is on streaming and many physical DVDs are out-of-print now. By the way, I watch physical discs through my PlayStation.

Yes, I have an older DVD player from around 2009 that has an HDMI output. And I have an even older DVD recorder that has R-G-B (component) outputs (which are similar to RCA plugs) and the HDTV has those inputs. However, it's a few years old and they may have dropped those by now. R-G-B is supposedly different from component video, but all I know is that it works.

Update, turns out only one of the DVD players have died not both. So I still have an option to watch DVD if I need to. But since it has already been replaced I now will just keept it in the same cabinet with the DVDs

One other thing to keep an eye out for are adapters that convert between composite video cables and HDMI cables.
