When it made it's launch in 1986 QVC was gonna make it's mark as a top shopping channel second to HSN "Formerly HSC "Home Shopping Club" and from the time it was launched in 1986 QVC had something for everyone to buy and would have shows devoted to sales centered around holidays such as Easter Memorial Day Christmas Black Friday Mother's Day and Father's Day. But if you watch QVC today ever since it merged with HSN you'll see that their sales shows are really not worthy of watching. Take for instance it seems that their traditional Today's Special Value is always clothing and rarely things like kitchen appliances and electronics and it tells me that clothing is QVC's strongest link. Another thing that QVC seems to have a lot of sales shows of is gardening items and this is also QVC's most biggest selling item. I remember when QVC used to sell unique items such as comic book collectibles and they would sell NASCAR merchandise with a various NASCAR driver who would appear and the hosts would interview the driver about racing. And QVC would sell toys every year for Christmas with sales shows with titles such as Gifts For Kids and Santa's Toy Shop. But I think QVC has headed toward the celebrity direction with the Joan Rivers Classics clothing line which is still selling even though Joan Rivers is no longer alive and has developed shows with Jennie Garth and cooking shows with Curtis Stone. And I think QVC is trying to give celebrities their own shows as a way to hawk their products and to give QVC huge ratings so more people can buy their items

They still do everything you just mentioned.

I don't know either, but they are probably having the same lack of viewer problems other cable channels are having.

Digital is not perfect, but analog had its problems, too. Analog over the air broadcasting was subject to snow and other imperfections. Analog video tape is subject to jamming and tracking errors. Tape can break. Etc.

Digital video has problems with camera pans, which can be jerky, or not smooth. It can be right but too many times it's wrong. Vertical movements are an issue, and this is most often seen with credit rolls. Sometimes these can be incredibly bad. It can be done right because I've seen them flawless.

But when you say "People don't like it [digital video]." More accurate to say, you don't like it. "People" most often don't notice.

And now I think QVC is heading toward the celebrity route even more with stars such as Jennie Garth launching their own shows and now they added Busy Phillpps to their celebrity lineup and now she has her very own shopping talk show and I seem to think that celebrities are trying to save QVC from going belly up. But what I would improve about QVC is having less shows about clothing sales and add more electronics sales shows. I also cannot figure out how In The Kitchen With Julia "Formerly In The Kitchen With Bob" still is popular even though the original host Bob Bowersox is retired but it seems to sell kitchen appliances a lot

What I mainly think QVC is trying to do is getting more shoppers to buy their products because I think ever since they merged with HSN they want to do more with their audience by adding talk shows and celebrity guests. But I have never ever understood how QVC makes so much money from their housewares show In The Kitchen With Mary because that show ever since it was started by original host Bob Bowersox as In The Kitchen With Bob back in the 90's it seemed to be their most popular show because I think cooking appliances must be QVC's strongest link in sales. I also can't figure out how QVC sells so much clothing and fashion accessories and shoes and it seems that every day QVC has fashions on sale and clearance sales on clothing and shoes. If QVC would have good stuff on sale and brings back their awesome comic book collectibles shows QVC would get monster ratings in TV shopping channels

I think what QVC is basically trying to do is trying to sell more clothing on their channel and what's surprising is you rarely see men's clothing shows on QVC and mainly women's clothing is featured. Another thing that QVC has started to do especially now that it's the holidays is have food shows selling anything from food baskets hams turkeys seafood and steak and even desserts like candy and cakes and cookies and brownies. And I cannot figure out how people buy these holiday foods from QVC and how it sells every year for the holidays? Is this because QVC wants to become like Fingerhut and hawk their merchandise to a new generation of viewers who watch QVC?
