There's no way Carol Burnett wanted Dick Van Dyke to replace Korman, that was a "recommendation" from the network suits. This was a real old school move, classic CBS (network of the stars) decision. I'm sure Carol would have preferred going with Ken Berry or maybe Steve Lawrence. CBS had supported Carol's career from the early days and this was a very prestigious show for CBS but facts were facts, the show was 10 years old, had dropped off dramatically in the rating, and was part of a dying genre.
