I have always thought it was the stupidist show ever made!!

I have never ever figured out how on earth Spongebob Squarepants became a hit or became a pop culture icon? But for some reason this show continues to be popular on Nickelodeon and I think when Spongebob Squarepants debuted on Nickelodeon they never knew how popular Spongebob Squarepants would become and many people thought it would be a one season show and then get cancelled due to poor ratings. But Spongebob Squarepants has held on so long because I think Nickelodeon thought the same thing that happened with Rugrats might work for Spongebob Squarepants. And that magic formula worked because Spongebob Squarepants was seen on merchandise from clothing food toys plushies video games and vice versa. But I think once The Spongebob Squarepants movies came out Nickelodeon had planned to make Spongebob Squarepants their biggest animated celebrity and they did. But I think once the creator of Spongebob Squarepants Stephen Hillenburg passed away the show had begun to wane in popularity and so Nickelodeon did the same thing that they did with Rugrats by creating spin-off shows of Spongebob Squarepants like Kamp Koral and The Patrick Star Show and that helped Nickelodeon save Spongebob Squarepants from cancellation and by making shows exclusively to Paramount+. And one of the reasons why Spongebob Squarepants has won many awards in Nickelodeon's Kids Choice Awards Favorite Cartoon category is because kids just LOVE this cartoon and it's humor. I remember seeing Spongebob Squarepants with my father and I found the episodes very funny at times and it's no secret that it will break The Simpsons record for being the longest running cartoon in history. But I think if Spongebob Squarepants does indeed end it's run in the future I think Nickelodeon will develop more Spongebob Squarepants movies for Paramount+ and make Patrick Star their new animated celebrity
