The replacement for him was Jean Doumanian, who would bare the brunt of responsibility for the show and its decline in ratings after Season 5. She would eventually be replaced by Dick Ebersol, who utilized Eddie Murphy to the best of his ability to keep the show on the air until Lorne Michaels returned in 1985 for Season 11.
