View Full Version : Best and/or favorite UM parents
StackTime 03-31-2025, 09:01 PM Not sure if a thread of this sort already exists, but here goes. I think it would be interesting to get thoughts on the best and/or favorite UM parents. (The worst are clear, I think - Noe, Pollis, etc.).
I'll start with just a few:
Rosenblum
Zelinski
Bish
K. Smart

WishfulDreamer 04-01-2025, 12:52 AM Gus Hoffman's family, particularly his mother. Similar to Amy Billig's, who have already been mentioned. A lot of courage and tenacity to find their missing loved ones, which sadly never happened.
Arthur Karopoulos. He worked hard to find his son and the update is so sweet.
Nancy Salem also worked hard searching for her daughter and I'm so glad they reunited.
Joey Moss' mother and stepfather. I love this reunion and how his mom runs to him.
Lighthearted since there was no crime/separation, but I loved the parents of Jessica Constant in the childhood prodigy episode. I loved how supportive they were and it was cute how they admitted they wished they could also be musical prodigies like their children.
1990 UM fan 04-01-2025, 07:56 AM Ken and Dorothy Sova come to mind. I still get chills at Ken going to the duplex basement alone to see if Kurt was really there. Same with Dorothy scouring the city at night to look for him. Sad that both died without concrete answers to their son's death.
zack007attack 04-02-2025, 07:53 AM Norman Ladner's parents.

Arthur Karopoulos was amazing. Likewise Ladonna Morrow! And Jim and Patty Stallings.
Mike82 05-08-2025, 11:46 AM Bit of an obscure episode not talked about much here, but I have no doubt whatsoever just from the episode that both Terry & Joline Hedlund (miracle baby segment) were not only great parents but amazing grandparents as well.
Sad to hear Terry passed away due to cancer.
cdr369 05-11-2025, 07:21 AM Arthur Karopoulos was amazing. Likewise Ladonna Morrow! And Jim and Patty Stallings.
Arthur Karopoulos died way too young!
Re Ladonna Morrow, does anyone think that perhaps she was not as innocent as she tried to appear?
MegtheEgg86 05-11-2025, 10:14 AM I second Maurice Rosenblum for sure.
Shane Stewart's dad and Sally McNelly's mom.
Jim Fontes.
Rachel Raver's mom.
Zel Loseff.
tvscript124 05-11-2025, 02:24 PM I want to put in a vote for Jim and Sue Evans, Russell Evans' parents. Whether it was a hit and run or something else, their child still died, and they never got justice.
Dogface82 05-11-2025, 04:07 PM Dorothy Lang, Larry Dickens (Matthew McCounaghy), mother. She was pointed out to me in 1979. She was just your typical neighbor, mom/young grandma. This was long before Unsolved Mysteries.
Mary Couey, Keith Warrens mother. Like so many upwardly mobile minorty families she had moved to a predominately white neighborhood with better schools and less crime and still lost her son. She never quit fighting for the truth.
John Britton Edwards, Jenny Edwards husband from 1970 until his death in 1999. His appearance on the Death by Drowning (Nurse Debbie Wolfe) was too brief. He was a tall calm Gary Cooper type with a sense of humor that was always there when needed. He was a decorated Vietnam veteran (Green Beret medic), who was in much better condition during the filming of the UM segment than during the actual events. He was recovering from a major medical event heart attack or stroke that occurred in late 1984.
