In global class, our teacher wants us to come up with an enthnocentric statement that would not offend anyone, but will however serve as a good example. I can't seem to think of one. Can you guys help me out? Thanks.

An enthnocentric phrase is a phrase said from your own cultral point of view commenting on someone else's ethnic group behavoir, physical appearance, etc. without taking into consideration of their opinions.

Person A is from France
Person B is Alaska

And so B would say something like, "The french have a funny accent."

However, this is only B's opinion of their accent 'cause A may think vice versa. However, the statement B made may offend A.... I need a statement that is enthnocentric that would NOT offend anyone, get it? lol

We are all equal?

Lol, that's the best thing I could come up with that wouldn't offend anyone. Best of all, it fits everyone. :)

We are all equal...hmm I like it..but then someone could come around and say "Well what about women and minorities..." Equal in law, but not in society.

Or something like "We're all SUPPOSED to be equal."

Good Luck with that one! Some people are so touchy!(political correctness)

My husband calls me a stubborn German. I take that as a compliment!

And I also have 2 bumper stickers that read;
"A grouchy German is a Sour Kraut!" and
"You can tell a German because you can't tell him anything!"

One must have a sense of humor as long as it isn't done maliciously! So good luck in trying not offend someone! :)

 those are great
I have a few stickers/signs like that..

"Irish should come with warning labels"
"God created chocolate to keep the Swiss from ruling the world"
"An Old Irish CURSE: may those that love us love us, and those who dont love us, may god turn their hearts; if he cant turn their hearts, may he turn their ankles so we'll know them by their limping"

As for the assignment- thats really hard because an ethnocentric statement is typically offensive. Maybe just a generalized assumption like "all french waiters are named Pierre" :: shrugs :: good luck

 I have a pillow that says that. I love it.

Let's see, an ethnocentric sentence that will not offend anyone's race, creed or color...

How about...

"Hi."

You Frenchies have great cuisine.

You Canadinans are the best neighbors an American could ever ask for.

OH! and you Mexicans have been a delight also.

Is that a beginning?
