View Full Version : Flood!
Ags2000 10-24-2002, 03:22 PM Somebody was asking who got snow, well I'm asking who flooded?
We had over 5 inches in the FIRST hour of rain. It rained for several hours, it was flooding EVERYWHERE!!!! I had a hard time geting home. I'm glad I had a truck. I saw the water go up past the windows on some cars. To get home, I had to drive through water that came up CLOSE to my window.
Once I got to my street, it was no problem. Only the yard had standing water. My street was fine, it was just getting there.
We were even mentioned on the weather channel we had so much rain. We were lucky though. There were some people on the other side of town that had water coming IN their homes. I'm glad I live in the "high" part of town.
Then, if THAT wasn't enough, we got more rain during the night. It came in at 4 in the morning. I know because my dogs woke me up because they were affraid of the thundering. It was booming pretty bad.
So here I am 2 days later and guess what? Yup you guessed it...MORE RAIN!!!
ARRGGHH!!! I think I am now part fish.

 How did you guess? Actually, it is worse then flooding now. We've had 3 tornadoes touch down. There is at least 1 confirmed dead. This is bad. No idea when I'll be back on. My backyard is just about totally flooded. The water is getting closer to the house. Wish me luck.

Well, it's wet, but no more tornadoes sonce yesterday. Tomorrow is supposed to be bad though because we will get hit from what is left of Hurricane Kenna (or what ever it's called) that's been sweeping over Mexico as well as a couple of Huricanes in the Gulf and hey, lets through in a front from the north for the heck of it :D
Tomorrow should be interesting.

Hi Ags- My brother lives in Moody, Texas which is about 40 miles from Waco. I was with him, visiting our parents in Southern California, around July 3rd or so. Flooding was also going on somewhere in Texas at that time. We were watching CNN for news about the floods. He was concerned about what might be happening to his family and friends. CNN went on and on with banter between the news woman and another CNN guy commentator giving news from somewhere in some other state where it was hot. He had his sport coat off. The woman newsperson said he was just trying to show off his build. We were supposed to laugh and like the woman and the guy at that point. We were supposed to forget that a flood was in progress at that very moment. They interviewied people who had been jogging in the heat, in the city where the guy with a muscle shirt was holding a microphone. One of the interviewees was wearing no shirt. He thought that he was something, and seemed to wishing that lots of girls would notice him and break down his door wanting of be with him and build his self image up to another more overbearing level than it presently was. I doubt that things turned out that way. But, you never know. My brother and I and our parents were waiting for information about the flood. Then the lady news person told us that she and the guy newsperson had gone to colllege together, which was supposed to make us understand why the airwaves were being filled with "Useless information, supposed to fire my imagination" (Mick Jagger/Kieth Richards "Satisfaction") during an emergency situation such as the one you just experienced.
Hope all turns out well for you and all!
Montana Ponine 10-26-2002, 04:57 PM I have never been in a flood. Seriously. It barely ever rains here, even in the winter. And snow comes round about once every 1000 years. Yeah.......I live in a desert.
Mossopp 10-27-2002, 04:54 PM There's been quite a lot of flooding in Scotland over this past week although, thankfully, my area hasn't been hit too bad. It's still really cold (I've been wearing a shirt over my PJ's practically every night this week) and there been some very high winds. I hate it when we get high winds - I'm always so paranoid that my satalite dish is gonna get blown off the side of my house! I couldn't live without digital TV!!
