In the edition of TV Guide hitting newstands on Monday they will be featuring their opinion of the 50 greatest tv theme songs. I am not sure as of yet on which ones are chosen, but I do know Andy Griffith Show, I Love Lucy, Brady Bunch, and Gilligan's Island are some that made the list.

Thanks for the 411. I'll be on the lookout for it. I'll bet the theme from Cheers makes the top 10. Even if it's not your favorite, it's so recognizable and a catchy sing-a-long. The Jefferson's theme is fun too.

Thanks for the information. I'm surprised the themes from The Beverly Hillbillies, Barney Miller, The Adams Family, Family Ties and The Sopranos are not listed.
I don't even recall a lot of the ones listed. I guess they had to draw the line somewhere.

Yeah, I would have bet on Barney Miller.
The Sopranos should be on there too, I didnt even think of it.

And where is WKRP in Cincinnati?
I mean I'm not biased or anything, can't you tell?

The Clampetts sure love them Corn Flakes, Hee-Haw! :D

They should have drawn their line after Berverly Hillbillies not before, that's just another reason to believe that TV Guide is staffed by a bunch of idiots.

I agree. The Beverly Hillbillie's theme song is a classic, and more recognizable than a lot of songs on that list.

What about Sanford and Son?

Star Trek?

Those are pretty recognizable and worthy inclusions.

I also liked Whats Happening and Battlestar Galactica.

I'm surprise that Diff'rent Strokes wasn't listed. That was my favorite theme song ever. Facts should have been on there too.

"The Beverly Hillbillies" along with "Gilligan's Island" were recently polled as the TV theme songs most recognizable by people. I think that would be considered as most favorite. The staff of TV Guide should base info on popular opinion and not their own opinion.

I'm surprised "Family Ties", "The Love Boat", "Diff'rent Strokes" and "The Facts of Life" didn't make the list. I'm glad "Laverne & Shirley" and "Welcome Back, Kotter" made the list for the best theme songs, though.

The problem, as I see it, this list and the one from "Inside TV Land's 40 Greatest TV Theme Songs" is that so many of one's favorite theme songs are left off. Though, on a percentage basis, I like "Inside TV Land's 40 Greatest TV Theme Songs" better. But here are some of my favorites that were left off both lists: "Go! Speedracer! Go!" and the themes from "The Yellow Rose," "Second Noah," "Flash Forward," "Doctor Who," and "Flipper."
I can still quote some of the lines from the latter.
"Flipper. Flipper. Faster than lightning.
No one you see. Is smarter then he."
Enjoy!
