No, nothing like that where I live. But 1 1/2 years ago, like 10 teachers quit from one school and they still haven't been properly replaced.

No, not the teachers. However, ALL the cheerleaders (Varsity, JV, and Freshmen) at the local highschool are boycotting the rest of the football games unless the principal OR the school board reverses the principal's decision and backs up the sponsor for suspending a cheerleader.

It seems that a cheerleader was suspended for breaking a rule in their constitution. The sponsor (whom I happen to know personally and I know she would not suspend a person for anything small) found out about the infraction and talked to the girl and told her she would be suspended for some time, no idea how long. Then the girl appealed to the principal (who happens to be a spineless git, but that's another story :D ) and he reversed the sponsors decision.

The sponsor resigned as sponsor and the rest of the cheerleaders went to talk to the principal to ask what the point was for having rules if they were not going to be inforced. He informed the girls that rules had to be there for people to follow. They countered saying that the girl did NOT follow the rules and HE was letting her get away with it.

In the end, the girls all got together on their own and decided that until the girl is removed from the team, they were going to boycott their cheerleading duties. They all went together to the football game last friday and sat in the stands as fans. They did cheer from the crowd, but there were NO cheerleaders on the field.

It might seem like something small, but I admire those girls for standing up for what they believe in.

Firemen in the UK are gonna strike at the start of next month if they don't get the pay-rise they are asking for (which it looks like they won't). This is gonna cause serious havoc all over the country!
I can't wait...........

We were close to having a strike at my school in grade nine. We had a little bit of a strike where extra curricular activities were cancelled, but class was still going on. Luckily, it never went into a complete strike, though.

Nope, not now but, last May they went on strike to demand raises. It was nothing major, so we were'nt really effected.
