I had never figured out why Arsenio Hall decided to launch his own talk show in the 80's but from the time The Arsenio Hall Show debuted in January 1989 many people hadn't even known who this guy was and what I think Arsenio was planning to do was to become a big superstar in talk shows and the many celebrities that appeared on his show might've gotten him the fame he wanted as a talk show host. After all Mariah Carey's performance of her first single Vision Of Love on The Arsenio Hall Show made Mariah a big star thanks to Arsenio Hall himself. But when you get the general picture the actual reason The Arsenio Hall Show ended in 1994 was due to Arsenio Hall focusing on other projects and the reason the show jumped the shark was I think there was trouble behind the scenes and Arsenio Hall couldn't handle the pressure much and that caused the show to end in 1994. Nowadays you haven't heard much about Arsenio Hall anymore since his short-lived ABC sitcom ended in 1997

He did had a brief return to the late night talk show genre in 2013, but it didn't last long. Although it was renewed for season 2, it was later reversed.
