View Full Version : I need your help
Luckymama58 10-23-2002, 07:43 PM I know I asked for prayers on another thread, but I am making a general plea for them now. As many of you may know from listening to the news, we have a problem with a sniper in our area (DC) He has pretty much stuck to the general I-95 area, because that is his quick getaway route. He is up to 13 victims now and things are intensifing in our area. I live about an hour and fifteen minutes west of DC in the eastern panhandle of WV and today someone called into the authorities that the sniper was seen in our area. Well most of us don't really believe this, but the report was enough to throw everyone into a panic here. All of the schools in our tri county area were on lock down and pick up this afternoon was a nightmare, not to mention dealing with frightened children. Some people are speculating if this isn't more of the same sort of terrorism that led to 9/11 or if this is a home grown terrorist. In either case, he has us hostage to our fear right now. We can't do anything in a normal way anymore. Please pray hard that they catch this guy and the terror will be over soon. THANK YOU!
Moonlight Lady 10-23-2002, 07:55 PM I will definitely pray. My cousin Sandra and her family live in Herndon, VA and i'm worried about them.
Karen64 10-23-2002, 09:20 PM Luckymama, I didn't know just how close you are to all the shootings until your last couple of posts! Even in Kansas, it's all we hear and talk about--I hope they catch whoever is doing this before anyone else gets hurt!
I heard that the police are searching a house & it may be connected with the case.....
My prayers are with you and all the other folks in that area!
Be careful, but don't let the fear be crippling! May God be with you!
hue_mee 10-23-2002, 10:20 PM Luckymama, I still can't believe this crazy person is still out there! When we talked about it yesterday, my heart just went out to all those victims. I'm so glad that what we talked about yesterday was over and we, you especially didn't have to fear the worst! I know it has to be very very scary to want to do anything with having to worry if something will happen. I will continue to pray for you and the all the communities effected with this person on the lose.
No weapon formed against you shall prosper- Isaiah 54:17
Pitooey 10-23-2002, 10:29 PM They should catch the culprits soon................ I'm praying for you Lucky.......
wheeeone 10-24-2002, 02:00 AM Mama,
I will continue to pray for everyone in your area and the quick capture of whoever is keeping everyone in such a state of terror out there.
My sister-in-law and her husband live within 10 miles of several of the killings and my daughter's Godmother(very close, long time friend)and her family lives in the same area. She was only 1/2 mile away at the exact time that the killing by "Michaels" was taking place.
Will pray for mighty warrior angels to finally end this so you, your family, and everyone else who is living in fear of these "monsters" can move about in safety without fear.
Cheryl Harrell 10-24-2002, 07:36 AM I know what you are going thru because the sniper stuff is hitting so close to here as well. We live about 3 hrs from Northern, VA/DC area. 3 hrs south of there in the middle of the state. You may have seen on the news where the sniper hit & shot someone at the Ponderosa Restuarant in Ashland, VA. Ashland is a little more than an hr from us & we have eaten at that restuarant a number of times. So that has been really scary. Then they had the thing the other day where they caught that van in Richmond, VA & thought it was the sniper. All this had been all over our news. Now they think the sniper was there at that phone booth in Richmond, VA several minutes before that van was & they just missed him! Richmond is a hr north of us & local to us. So this is really getting even scarier now. Schools were closed some days because of all this. I just hope & pray they can find him so this can all stop. I figure I can't let fear stop me from going places. I am just glad I don't have to go to DC or Northern VA this yr. I had no idea Luckymama lived so close to DC. I was thinking she maybe lived out in the country somewhere. We're keeping the folks around there in our thoughts & prayers & will do with Luckymamas area as well.
I also liked the verse from Isaiah. May God be with us all at this time. Keep the faith...
Karen64 10-24-2002, 08:27 AM I read on the news this morning that law enforcement have 2 men in custody and that they are pretty sure "they have the right guys".
Let's hope so!
Luckymama58 10-24-2002, 08:43 AM I sure hope the reporters have this right. I was listening to the news, and quite frankly, I am hearing all sorts of things. If they do have the guys, it would be an answer to prayer. Things seem to be back to normal around here at least. We had church scheduled for today before all of this happened and we are still going. I think we need the prayer (I teach in a private catholic school).
Cheryl, you crack me up  I do live in the country, but as you know from where you live, the city isn't that far away! I am glad I am not too close to the city, but it is nice to go to DC and have all the museums and culture there close by. I am building a house right now that is located on thirty acres of woods we inherited from my father in law. I can't wait. I love the country! (I grew up near NYC and I have had all the city living I want in a lifetime! LOL  )
THANKS FOR ALL THE PRAYERS!!!!!! They do work!!! (I love that Isaiah verse too!)
tylersmistress2002 10-24-2002, 09:11 AM My prayers are with you. I hope they catch and punish this awful awful person or persons. This whole situation is just horrible. God be with you.
atlangel 10-24-2002, 01:39 PM I am praying for you and hope that the maniacs who carried out this terrorism have been caught. I have been watching this story and felt so bad for the citizens and law enforcement. The families of the victims are in my prayers also. Their loved ones were taken from them and they were innocent!! Just going about their daily activities of life. I will never understand how human beings can be so cruel to other human beings.
Cheryl Harrell 10-24-2002, 04:06 PM Good luck with building the new house. I like where I live cuz it's out in the county but if I need towns there are little small towns nearby & If I need stuff from the city, Richmond is only a hr away & I don't have to live in the big city! Lived in the same county all my life...
Looks like they may have caught the sniper. I sure hope so. I found a story on it on YAHOO:
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20021024/ap_on_re_us/sniper_shootings_494
I sure hope they got him & this is over. It was too scary for me...
Luckymama58 10-25-2002, 07:14 AM Thank you so much for your prayers and support. It looks like the terror might be over. I felt your prayers and the past few days have been a bit calmer for me. I really don't mind being busy, but the stress levels were too high for me. I think I am relaxing more, in spite of the busyness. I know that it is a direct result of your prayers and good wishes! I say it again and again .... YOU ALL ARE THE BEST!!!!
I wanted to share something Dani just sent me in an e-mail to help me be of good cheer. Thank you, my Freddie sister.
I know it can help everyone who is under a lot of stress these days. I have been talking to many of you and I know I am not the only one with a lot of stress these days. So this is for all of us. May God help all of us with the things that worry us these days and answer all of our prayers. And thank you, Freddie, for being there as a great stress reliever! LOOOOKING GOOOOD!
MariposaLKB 10-25-2002, 07:58 AM Did you write the poem? It sounds just like what Freddie would say to any of us when we are under stress or scared! And the large picture is soooo gorgeous! I know it is from the "boxer" episode, near the end of his life. He looks much, much older but not as if it is almost over. :( There was still something sooo compelling about him, right up to the last!
Lucky and everyone else who might have been affected by this recent terrorism--Thank God you are all safe and the maniac has been caught! I am sooo glad we all have each other to lean on at times like this.
hue_mee 10-25-2002, 09:32 AM Dani that was so beautiful! The words were so uplifting as well.
I am so thankful that the madness is over. I couldn't imagine what Luckymama and the all those in the areas effected were going through! I know all of us are going through some sort of stress or another. Having someone you know live in an area of constant fear on top of that can be very stressful and fearful. Thank God it is over!
No weapon formed against you shall prosper. -Isaiah 54:17
Cheryl Harrell 10-25-2002, 03:48 PM That is a neat picture & poem. Very comforting. Freddie would be so proud if he were here today...
Danisel331 10-27-2002, 12:06 AM WEll, ladies I can't really take full credit for the creation as I had help with it ;), but I'm glad that it helped you along in some small way!
