There are plenty of timeless Seinfeld episodes. But, from "The Beard" to "The Cigar Store Indian," there are some that don't hold up today.

This list sounds like a bunch of whining.

I can buy the technology and Merv Griffin references being dated--any 30 year old show is going to be dated in some ways.

But, The Shoes? This episode is hilarious. Guys ogle girls; George happened to get caught.

And the rest of it? If the episode triggers you, just don't watch it!

I've always liked that Merv Griffin episode. True, kids today aren't going to remember Merv Griffin, but the concept isn't that complicated. Kramer finds a talk show set and lives his life like a talk show host in his apartment. Do you really need to remember Merv Griffin to find that funny?

The Shoes. I thought it was a risky episode even then - I doubt you would see anyone do it today. But I'm certainly not offended by it. Men are programmed to look - all the complaining about the "male gaze" isn't going to change that.
And the title refers to Elaine getting upset about the other woman talking about her shoes, and how mystified the guys were by it. Which was funny.

By the way, I didn't know until recently that Denise Richards played the 15 year old daughter. And she was in her early 20s at the time, so if you had to peek, don't feel too bad.

Good point about Merv.

The whole Shoes episode is one laugh after another. It could have been called "The Sneeze" or "The Ogle." I ROFL every time Russell leaves the room and you hear the barfing, and George's eyeing hadn't even happened yet.

It could have been called The Vomit too, but I don't suppose that would have been very appealing.
