Mr. Peepers, although they're not in very good shape.

The Bob Cummings Show.

I'd like to see the Phil Silvers Show during daylight hours.

Cartoon time: Beany & Cecil, George of the Jungle, Linus the Lionhearted, Roger Ramjet/Hercules, Kimba the White Lion

I think UCLA did some restoration on Mister Peepers. Yet the episodes i saw looked like they were filmed on a theatrical stage. I guess early TV was trying to find the best way to stage and film shows. The TV show Stanley has the same issues. Stanley had Buddy Hacket and Carol Burnett. I think Amazon Pirme video has that show available for free.

BTW, you might remember Kimba the White Lion was on Paul Shannon's Adventure Time on WTAE in Pittsburgh.

Based on this idea there could easily be a channel focused on Public Domain TV shows. There are so many possibilities not guest with comedies but all genre. The hard part is finding watchable episodes. Some available episodes of shows are completely unwatchable.

It was filmed in a theater. My understanding is that they had some sort of primitive Jumbotron above the stage so that people could see what was going on better.

Franciis, much of the shows you've been listing are available on YouTube, probably Dailymotion and Internet Archives.

In theory it should be possible to watch good quality copies of any show. Public domain is a problem because there is no profit or even a chance to break even, in making good quality copies available.

A prime example if this is The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, since many episode are rumored to be in the public domain. Ozzie died in 1975, a few years after the show ended, and no one else in the Nelson family appeared to have taken any interest in "keeping up" with the show, except possibly making a syndication deal.

Then several years ago Sam Nelson took an interest, and eventually stepped up. He probably donated his time, but remastering and releasing the shows takes time--and money. Without a Go Fund Me type effort, it probably couldn't have happened--but with his efforts, and raising money--it eventually did.

The same kinds of problems can affect shows that are still under copyright. Finding and remastering episodes takes time and money.

Sea Hunt with Lloyd Bridges ran on one of the retro channels several years ago, might have been MeTV. Anyway, maybe it will be back.
