Why Mr. Bentley never talked to a doctor about his bad back

Why George continued to pay Florence if she never wanted to work

Why Louise didn't invite Edith Bunker to see her new apartment

Where were Louise and George coming from when they got out of the cab in the opening credits

Solomon,

You raise some interesting questions. I'll try to take a crack at them:

Why Bentley never saw a doctor about his bad back? Doctors cost money. Having a neighbor walk on your back, however, is absolutely free. Yes, most people probably would've opted for the doctor. But Bentley isn't Most People. He's in a class by himself.

Why George continued to pay Florence if she never wanted to work?--- Two reasons: 1. He did it partly because of his wife's urging, and also because, let's face it, deep down, George liked Florence; 2. If George stopped paying Florence, she would've quit, and if Florence quit, that would mean that the actress who played her--Marla Gibbs--wouldn't have a part and would probably have to leave the show, and the producers weren't that dumb.

Why Louise didn't invite Edith Bunker to see her new apartment?-This one is easy: Archie Bunker. If Louise invited Edith, then Archie would've wanted to come, and George would've been furious. It's actually kind of sad. Louise and Edith were more open-minded than their husbands but had to sacrifice their friendship just to keep peace in the home.

Where were Louise and George coming from when they got out of the cab in the opening credits?---They're coming from their Queens home. Did you notice the U-Haul moving truck in front of the cab? George and Louise rode in the cab which followed the moving truck which would take them to their new Manhattan residence.

I hope this helps.
